Without question, 2020 will be remembered as a watershed for the legal cannabis industry. Marked by record public acceptance and popularity in the United States (a Gallup poll found that 68 percent of Americans supported legalization, an all-time high), passage of five more state programs (to raise the US count to 15 states with legalized recreational cannabis and 35 with medical marijuana) and given “essential business” status in 33 states during a global pandemic, the industry is enjoying unprecedented success in mainstream America. Projections call for the number of US cannabis consumers to reach about 46.6 million people
