First Indian female in top post quits

LAST month, Rashmi Samant was elected as the first female Indian president of the Oxford University Student Union (OUSA), but less than a week later she resigned as president-elect.

Students trawled through her old social media accounts and found what they believed were racist and insensitive posts.

Samant, 22, an alumnus of the Manipal Institute of Technology in India, was due to take up the position in June.
