TIP OF THE FORTNIGHT

Increase System Reserved partition to get update

I read your News story in Issue 600 (page 6) about the May 2020 Update being ready for everyone, and so thought I’d better check to see if my three computers have been updated or still need updating. My desktop PC and mini PC had been, but my wife’s laptop hadn’t. I started the update process only to be greeted with the error message ‘We couldn’t update system reserved partition’.

I checked the partitions and it showed I had 300MB reserved, which wasn’t enough to accommodate this update. I thought it would be simple to enlarge the C partition using Disk Management in Windows, but you can do it only if of the partition to the right.
