1/ Project Analysis Design Brief Design Situation Identification of the need Exploration of the need Criteria for Success Limitations
The design brief allows you to clarify what is needed to solve the problem. This gives a background to the problem you are trying to solve. It tells what the problem is, where it is, who it affects, why its needed etc

A list of criteria that must be achieved by your final design. This is a detailed description of factors, which will have a direct influence on your project. These include time, facilities materials, experience, equipment etc...

2/ Organization Action Plan Time Plan

Finance Plan

This is a list of the actions you plan to undertake in completing this project. Putting dates/deadlines to the actions you plan to undertake in completing this project. A list of all items and their costs that you anticipate using in the project.

3/ Research Existing Designs Materials

Techniques

Photos and videos of existing products that you can gain ideas from. A detailed collection of materials used in your design including a description of why they are suitable for the project. A list of techniques to be used in both the still and video components of your project.

4/ Ideas Storyboard

A series of coloured, freehand sketches showing possible solutions to the problem. These are detailed with notes explaining the different aspects of the design.

5/ Production Video 6/ Final Evaluation Final Evaluation

This is your video and logo construction

How well did you achieve the criteria listed in the design brief? What would you do differently?

Note: - Items in GREEN will be assessed in the first task. Items in PURPLE will be assessed in the second task.

The Design Brief

Your brief is to: -

Design a promotional video for a product or subject of the students choice. The promotional video MUST be a minimum of 30 seconds in length and NO MORE than 2 minutes. The video must contain an image(s) created by the student using the program Fireworks that show a MINIMUM of 4 editing techniques. The video MUST be edited using the PINNACLE software. The video MUST contain video shot by the student, music, transitions and voice over.

Result I am going to design a 1 minute commercial for television which promotes My target audience is .with .as my secondary audience.

Exploring the Need

By investigating the reasons why an advertisement is needed, I hope to have a better understanding of . Who, What, Why, How etc.

Spy Kids 3D Game Over will be released in Australia on .. It has been a very popular movie for children in the .. to age group. The movie is the first of the series to be released in 3D and therefore ..

Criteria to Evaluate Success

This involves thinking about the qualities and features that your design solution will show when completed to ensure the project is successful. This will be used to evaluate final design, and product at the end of the project. The constraints within the design brief provide a starting point for the criteria for success.

Aesthetics
Relates to the way something looks its appearance. This can include colour, shape props, location, wardrobe etc. For my project the main points are 1. Must be shot in an authentic location. 2. The wardrobe ..

Function
Refers to what the product must do. For my project the main points are 1. Must be suitable for the age of my target audience. 2. Must promote the name of the movie.

Other Considerations
Materials Tools Techniques Resources Health and Safety Environment Ethics Cost

Limitations
Q. A. What are the limitations for the project? Limitations or constraints are factors that will have an impact on our design. For this project we will concentrate on the following limitations.

Availability of Time Money Materials Function Appearance Ergonomics Resources Equipment Construction Facilities Expertise The following table shows a common method of setting out limitations or constraints. Limitation/Constraint Description Time The project must be completed by the week 8 term 2 9 cycles of 5 lessons = 45 lessons. 45 lessons at 1 hour each = 45 hours at school 2 hours a week at home x 18 = 36 hours Total = Money Materials
