DM-Deckaddon UDK Level Design

Core Focus Design Inspiration Workflow I. The core focus of this map was to create an environment that could be an extension to DMDeck. I wanted to play off the idea of a system that deals with garbage reallocation. II. The design was inspired by heavy machinery. I wanted to design around the idea of a society that has an advanced way of handling waste and chemical hazards. III. There are some parts in the original DM-Deck that have areas of green chemical pools. In the world of unreal Im sure that chemical came from a barrel or pipe. Playing with this idea allowed me to piggy back off the idea of waste management.

IV. I researched DM-Deck itself first and got a lot of information. I then researched physical environments and found many interesting designs. When all my research was gathered I started my napkin sketches to get a feel for space. I then went into UDK to start blocking out the level and doing basic kismet. After the level has been blocked out I start adding static meshes in the scene to match it to the original DM-Deck style.
