Hospitality

Memory Verse: 1 Peter 4:8-10 Above all hold unfailing your love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins. Practice hospitality ungrudgingly to one another. As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.

1. Memorize the Scripture verse. 2. Read about Luke 10:38-42. Reflect on Martha and Marys roles. Was Martha giving herself joyfully? 3. Think of some times that Our Blessed Mary showed hospitality. Write them down or share them with your family. 4. As Christians, we are commanded to practice hospitality to others. Hospitality is to be practiced by all not just those who are gifted with the practice of hospitality. There is a difference between entertaining and hospitality. Look up the two words in the dictionary. Discuss the differences. Read Hebrews 13:2, 1 Peter 4:9, Genesis 18:5, and Luke 6:31. Discuss Gods model of hospitality. 5. Come up with a list of ways that you can grow in hospitality during this time in your life. Choose three things from the list to focus on during the month. Make sure to serve with a joyful heart and approach each hospitality opportunity with prayer. This time of prayer will put your heart into focus on what is important - Glorifying God. Seek the help of the Blessed Mother to grow in hospitality. 6. It is important to remember that God would not want you to sacrifice your family at the expense of being hospitable to others. That would be wrong ordered. So you should really start by showing hospitality to your immediate family - your parents and your siblings. Hospitality must not be seen as a burden rather than a blessing. So you must approach this with discernment and balance. Depending on what season of your life you are in will determine how often and in what ways you practice hospitality. What is it saying to your family if you only serve the best or act the best when you have guests? Work on showing your immediate family hospitality this month.
