HPCD S 12TH ANNIVERSARY!!!

ugust 4th, 2011 marked the 12th anniversary of HPCD, Haitian Partners for Christian Development. On August 4, 1999, three influential entrepreneurs, Mr. Ralph Edmond (Cofounder of Laboratoire Farmatrix), Mr. Ernso Jean-Louis (Cofounder of Red Star Market) & Mrs. Sylvie Theard (Cofounder of ITALA pasta), were inspired to eradicate poverty through sustainable job creation. These three dedicated individuals took upon themselves to transform their society by creating an organiza-

tion which focused on creating sustainable jobs in Haiti. Now 12 years later, over 3,350 jobs established, HPCD stands dedicated to their mission: to encourage strong entrepreneurship in Haiti and around the world, that is based on foundational values, ethics, and social sharing as stated in Biblical scripture. HPCD, an organization where our vision to see a country full of employment where social harmony lasts & economic development is based on entrepreneurship and sharing guides

our thinking and decisions. Yes, there have been challenges in the last 12 years but we have never given up and we are stronger because of it. We wanted to re-invite your organization to partner with us in transforming our society; to making a difference in the lives of our fellow citizen. On September 22nd, 2011 HPCD was delighted to receive and honor a group of companies within the construction sector, for a brunch executed in order to launch our recurrent Youth Placement initiative which is financed by the RVC Section of UN in Haiti The HPCD has once again partnered with the United Nations to implement a reinsertion program for 300 youth in high risk areas to potentially reduce violence in these respective communities. n the evening of August 28 1994 Father Jean-Marie Vincent, 49 yrs old, was murdered by the henchmen of the military dictatorship of former general Cedras. National Park Jean Marie Vincent , once a recreational park, now after the earthquake of January 12, 2010 hosts one of the largest camps of over 20,000 displaced people in the Haitian capital.

HPCD has realized that the youth living in these camps are filled with potential & aptitude but regardless are unproductive. This has brought about a partnership with the United Nations to re-launch our youth placement initative to train these youth with vocational trades & place them in apprenticeships. HPCD believe that these youth are Haitis tomorrow and investing in their future is investing in the future of Haiti.

delivered a powerful presentation on the history of HPCD, our mission, vision and various projects we currently undertake, specifically highlighting our placement project for disadvantaged youth. Our goal, launching our youth placement initiative and successfully placing the youth in the firms represented at the brunch was definitely realized.

These youth have completed a six month formal training program where they obtained professional instruction in Mecanic, Electricity, Building Construction, Plumbing, Rfrigration, aircondintioning and Welding. There is a new swarm of people calling & visiting our offices these days, ever since the Executive Director, Mr. Ernso Jean-Louis, was interviewed on one of the most popular radion stations in the country, Radio Quisqueya. The emision, Dim ma Diw with Marvel Dandin covered HPCDs various initiatives,our vision, mission and new plans for 2011-12. But this was only the beginning. In the following week the Executive Director is set to be interviewed in three other popular stations : La Voix de LEvangile, Radio Shalom and Radio Lumiere. The people of Haiti are hungry for change, hungry to make a difference in their societies. These radio interviews have revealed a new class of entreprenuers, a new population of youth ready for formation. And this is only the begining.

HPCD launches a new department! : Employment Agency


As of August 2011, HPCD has decided to launch a new department to satisfy the demand for employment. By partnering with employers and prospective employees in our network we aim to facilitate the relationship by finding skilled individuals that fit the demand of jobs posted in the metropolitan area. HPCD realized after 12 years of creating sustainable means of employment and given our vast network of entrepreneurs within Haiti it was only natural implement an official placement department for the local public. HPCD is currently receiving applications for those competent and interested in finding employment. You simply pay a small fee of 250 gourdes. A skilled job placement personnel will assist you in marketing yourself and abilities, offer career development seminars and partner you with a potential employer which needs match your skills set. As for an employer, if you are looking for an valuable, hardworking employee we can guarantee we have someone within our network which matches this skills set. We are currently receiving applications. If you are looking for a job and are confident in your craft stop by our office anytime from Monday through Friday 8am-4pm!

Turning Trash into Cash! Natasha Joacine ( HPCD Entreprenueur)


Entreprenuer Profiled: Natasha Joacine, one of our dynamic entrepreneurs who recently graduated from our 2010-11 class, is an excellent example of creativity, determination and will. Natasha has literally transformed her community by recycling trash into beautiful products. She has also implemented a community development bureau entitled Association de Petit Genis. This bureau is a space where over 1,000 children in the community have access to training from skilled artisans and learn how to make beautiful products from trash. With HPCDs help Natasha has now expanded her enterprise to accommodate over 500 women, and 150 seniors and now has opened a new office in center city. She currently has 16 stable employees. Natasha believes in the power recycling, and the power of transforming her society by using what is already there: trash, people, creativity, and will!

Our Objectives for 2011-2012 2011


Create 800 jobs in 2011-2012 fiscal year Place 300 youth in apprenticeships with various companies in our network Implement vocational training seminars where previous entrepreneurs with in our network will teach the public their trade.

Open two new incubators which can house at least 20 entrepreneurs in additional communes of Haiti Grow our membership database by 500%. Implement a nation-wide entrepreneurship training program Partner with seven more organizations to host various leadership seminars, business conferences, and formative session. Partner with various youth organizations to implement a nation-wide youth placement project. Launch a microfinance department
