Barefoot Baby Bootique Pattern Number 20

in three sizes: Birth to 3 months, 3 to 6 months & 6 to 9 months

DAISY ~ FRILLY NAPPY COVER/KNICKERS PATTERN

You will need: knitting 50g double knitting yarn in the colour of your choice 1 pair size 3.75 mm needles (old UK size 10) 1 pair size 3 mm needles (old UK size 8) 5 metres of eyelet lace 5mm wide elastic Rose embellishments (optional) 3.25mm Bigger sizes can be achieved by using Aran weight yarn and 3.25mm and 4 mm needles 3.75mm Tension: 6sts & 8 Rows to 2.5 cms (1 inch) over st st on 3.75mm needles. Abbreviations: K= Knit, P = Purl, Tog = Together, St(s) = stitch(es), Inc = Increase, Dec = Decrease, st st = Stocking Stitch, Slipped S1 = Slip one, PSSO = Pass Slipped Stitch Over. Knit in lace by starting from the left and placing the lace to the back of the work. Insert the needle into the first stitch and through the first Eyelet hole in the Lace. Loop yarn over the needle and complete the stitch.

Keeping the tension loose, repeat the procedure to the end of the row and cut the lace (do not cut the wool) To keep the lace neat at row ends. Overlap towards you at the start and end of each row by one hole

Back

Using 3.75MM needles cast on 15 (17) (19) sts and starting with a P row st st 3 rows Continue in st st casting on 2 sts at the beginning of the next 22 (24) (26) rows. [59 (65) (71) sts] ending with a P row with Right Side facing for next row Continuing with the pattern now, work as follows Starting with a K row, St st 5 rows Next Row: Lace Row Next Row: K Next Row: P Next Row: K Next Row: P Next Row: K For 2nd Sizes work 2 more st st rows here For 3rd Size work 4 more st st rows here Next Row: Lace Row Next Row: K

Waistband

Change to 3 mm needles and continue in rib for 12 rows. Cast off

Front

Using 3.75MM needles cast on 15 (17) (19) sts and starting with a P row st st 11 ( 13) (15) rows Cast on 2 sts at the beginning of the next 12 row Cast on 10 (12) (14) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. [59 (65) (71) sts Continue straight in st st until the front measures the same as the back to the waistband

Waistband

Change to 3 mm needles and continue in rib for 12 rows. Cast off Join side seams and continue with leg bands

Leg Bands (both alike)

Using 3 mm needles and right side of work facing, pick up and knit 58 (66) (74) sts evenly around the leg. Work one row in lace Rib 12 rows, cast off in rib Finishing off Fold leg bands in half onto wrong side and slip stitch together.

Do the same with the waistband, leaving a gap to thread elastic through the waist. Thread elastic and tie off tightly. Join crutch and leg band seams. Press as per ball band instructions. Decorate with the rose embellishments if you wish.
