WORK INSTRUCTIONS FOR CATHETER CARE

1. Arrange all the articles necessary for the procedure. 2. Explain the procedure to the patient. 3. Provide privacy and position the patient in lithotomy. Drape the patient.

4. Wash hands put on PPE 5. Ask the assistance to open the wrapper of the sterile dressing tray and pour antiseptic solution.
6. Use single gauze for one stroke

For Female:
i. Clean the mons pubis from top to bottom

ii. A single stroke from clitoris to for chette.

iii. Clean the outer part of the labia major and then inner part of the major from farthest side to nearest side. iv. Clean the labia minora v. Clean the thigh away from perenium

For Female:
vi. Clean the anus in a circulatory motion vii. Clean the catheter by gently wiring it in a circulatory motion.

For male:
i. Clean the pubis from top to bottom

ii. Long strokes to the penis

iii. Retract the penis and clean the area in a circulatory motion iv. Long strokes to the thighs away from perineum v. Clean the anus in a circular motion
