Cheek Cell Slide Microscope rules will be reviewed prior to lab Students not showing respect for lab

and lab materials will have privileges revoked! Materials: 1. Compound light microscope 2. Cover slip 3. Microscope slide 4. Iodine 5. Pipette 6. Paper towel 7. Toothpick Q-tip Procedure: 1. Obtain all necessary supplies prior to beginning lab 2. Add 1 drop and 1 drop ONLY of iodine to the microscope slide 3. Use the q-tip or toothpick to retrieve skin cells from the inside of your cheek 4. Gently swab the inside of your cheek-we dont need blood 5. Add 1 drop of iodine to the microscope slide 6. Using a swirling motion, apply the cheek cells, from the q-tip, to the microscope slide 7. Apply the cover slip 8. Make sure no bubbles are under the slip 9. Make sure magnification is on 4X 10. Bring specimen into focus using the coarse adjustment knob (reviewed) 11. Use fine adjustment knob to clearly visualize specimen 1. Draw what you see below
