Whats happening?
The Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act says that every 10 years an Electoral Boundaries Commission must be struck to adjust federal riding boundaries to reflect the changes in population in ridings across the country The goal is to make the population of each riding equal, however ridings can have populations +/- 25% (max:132,766; min: 79,660) In addition to population equality, commissions must consider other social and geographic factors. Based on population increases, the Commission has proposed adding another riding to Mississauga and changing the boundaries and names of the other ridings The proposed changes would give Mississauga 6 ridings: Mississauga West-Streetsville Mississauga-Erin Mills Mississauga South Mississauga North Mississauga East-Cooksville Mississauga-Centre (NEW)
