Greetings from the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism I am pleased to extend my warmest greetings to all those attending

the South Asian Film Festival. On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organizers of the South Asian Film Festival for your important contributions to your community. The South Asian culture has made a bold impact on Canadian society and mainstream entertainment. The South Asian Film Festival is an ideal occasion to showcase the talent of artists and filmmakers of South Asian heritage and to recognize their contributions to the film and entertainment industry. While the public enjoys the expressive and unique themes which originate from South Asian film culture, the festival will bridge cross-generational and crosscultural gaps by promoting elements of South Asian culture and identity. The contributions of the South Asian community to Canadian multiculturalism have often been as remarkable and vibrant as the individuals themselves. As Prime Minister Harper noted: Canadians are rightly proud of the fact that we are a nation of immigrants, people who have come from all corners of the earth and who have worked together to build one of the most peaceful and prosperous nations in human history. As Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, I would like to commend the organizers, sponsors and volunteers for their continued efforts and dedication towards the success of our Canadian pluralistic society. My very best wishes for a successful festival. Sincerely,

The Honourable Jason Kenney, PC, MP Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism
