Making Connections
WE HAVE RULES IN SCHOOL, LAWS IN OUR COUNTRY. WHAT IS A LAW? WHY DO WE HAVE LAWS?
Making Connections
Ordinarily, a law could be defined as a set of rules that a country or a community reinforces for the good of every citizen. Laws are created to protect certain values that are important to a community.
How did these laws come to be? Let us go through the Sacred Scriptures to know more about them.
For an Israelite then to show His great faith in God, one must be very obedient to the laws of the Covenant. Any sin that were committed meant that they were not able to follow the commandments of God. (CFC 807, b). However, some of the Israelites focused too much on following the laws without knowing the value behind them.
WE RESPOND
Can we still follow the Ten Commandments today? Why should we follow them?
WE PRAY
We thank God for the gift of laws in our school, in our country and in the Church as our guides in doing what is good to help us enter the Kingdom of God. We also ask God for guidance and strength so we would be able to follow these rules faithfully and wholeheartedly.
REVIEW QUESTIONS:
Why do we need to follow rules in school and in our country? Why do we have laws in the Church? What were the Ten Commandments for?
