Carter Cleaning Case Q1: What should be the format and final form of the store managers job description?
Ans: The Format should contain useful and important information about the JOB. It should also contain the standards of performance section that lists the standards that the employee is expected to achieve under all the jobs descriptions role and duties. It should contain the Purpose of the Position i.e the main reason for this positions and the importance of result. It should also specify the scope of the position i.e the way this position has an impact on the store. E.g responsible for maintaining customer service and cash controls. Etc. The main portion should consist about the Responsibilities that should be for the manager so as to remove the problem that was occurring again and again due to insufficient knowledge on the duties of the store manager. These should be included in a job description: * Job Identification * Job Summary * Responsibilities and Duties * Standards of performance * Working conditions * Job specifications

Q2: Is it practical to specify standards and procedures in the body of the job description, or should these be kept separate?
Ans: It is practical to specify standards and procedures in the body of the job description because the job description should contain the standards of the company that they expect the employees to comply with and to perform their responsibilities and duties. Also to include the procedures and standards that are important and relevant for the applicants to comply with like performance in the company. However if the standards and procedures are very complex and huge then it is more appropriate to maintain separate procedures.

Q3: How should Jen go about collecting the information required for the standards, procedures, and job description?
Ans: First of all She should Conduct Job Analysis and then list the standards, procedures the employee must fulfill in the company. Then she should collect information through different tools of collection like questionnaires , interviews , observations, etc. the interviewee should be able to do all the desired task efficiently and effectively and should be physically active and a good leader so that he might become a role model for others and strong decision making power and be able to correctly process information.

Ans: In my opinion Job Description should Consist of:

Store managers are responsible for ensuring that the Starbucks Service Experience is consistently provided for all customers, quality store operations are maintained, store partners are motivated and led in a positive manner, and financial contribution is maximized. This position requires customary and regular exercise of independent judgment and discretionary powers in the day-to-day performance of job duties, and ensures the Companys policies are implemented and maintained in a consistent manner. Responsibilities and Duties:

Maintains Quality Store Operations Ensure all Company policies, store standards and procedures are communicated effectively and maintained and followed in a consistent manner. Follow all guidelines outlined in the policies and procedures manual to maintain a safest environment for both employees and customers. Organizes work throughout the store in a manner that facilitates efficient customer service and profitable operation. Ensure store appearance are maintained in a consistent manner Maintains consistent speed of service to the customer by ensuring all store staffing requirements. Ensure that Profitability is maintained through effective control of labor and other costs.

Contributes toward store profitability by seeking opportunities to increase sales, manage inventory and cost of goods control and labor costs. Maintains daily, weekly and period financial reports. Ensures all cash handling and cash register function are performed in an accurate and consistent manner.

Hotel Paris Case Question 1: Based on the hotel's stated strategy, list at least four important employee behaviors for the Hotel Paris's staff?
Ans: The hotel Pariss competitive strategy is To use superior guest service to differentiate the Hotel Paris properties, and to thereby increase the length of stay and return rate of guests, and thus boost revenues and profitability. Any Hotel whether small or big, if the guests are happy with the hospitality and behavior is a beneficial business. A hotel is successful if it has qualified employees who know how to get 100% customer satisfaction. 1. When you are in front of a guest be friendly. Smile at the guest. 2. Ask a guest if he/she needs something. 3. You should be accurate with your work. Listen and note carefully what the guest needs. Repeat items to them to ensure everything is alright. 4. Guests satisfaction is all you need. Satisfy a guest with your humble behavior. 5. Respond quickly. Try to keep an eye on guests. So that if they try to have your attention by Eye contact or by any signal, you can respond quickly.
