Mitochondria
Structure

A mitochondrion contains outer and inner membranes. There are five distinct compartments within the mitochondrion.
outer mitochondrial membrane inter membrane space (the space between the outer and inner membranes) inner mitochondrial membrane cristae space (formed by the fold of the inner membrane) matrix (space within the inner membrane).

Function
Mitochondria are the site of cellular respiration. This process releases energy through the oxidation of food substances such as glucose. During the cellular respiration energy is generated or released in the form of ATP(adenosine triphosphate) which can be used readily by cells.

Distribution
found in most eukaryotic cells Present in nerve to help in transformation of nerve impulse throughout a synapse. In muscle cell to carry out aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration.

Endoplasmic reticulum
Structure

Function Rough endoplasmic reticulum Transport protein made by the ribosome throughout the cell. Place for chemical reaction. Smooth endoplasmic reticulum Synthesis lipids Carries out detoxification of drugs and metabolic by product.

Distribution
situated around the nucleus and it really doesn't have one specific base or point in a cell it extends a network of membranes, tubules, vesicles, and sacs throughout the cell.
