Be Barfi!- Indeed!

Not all movies live up to the hype they generate and thats exactly was my presumption when I went to watch Barfi. However, by the end of the movie, all these notions were scrapped and a sense of awe surrounded me- yes, the awe of Barfi. Barfi- the embodiment of love, happiness and all things good that you start to appreciate life the Barfi way! I am not going to review Barfi here but speak about how the movie completely moved me and made me realize how complicated we make things which are seemingly simple. Barfi is rejected by the girl he falls in love with but that does not leave him like a Devdas. He picks up his life from where it was before he fell in love and moves on. How many of us can actually move over heartbreak so soon? Love and hurt are part and parcel of life; if one can embrace love with all the colors of the rainbow, then departing from it shouldnt be a massive step, isnt it? He encounters love again in the form of Jhilmil who despite being autistic loves him for what he is. The movie clearly reiterated that love is all about understanding and trusting each other and knowing that no matter what, you are always going to be together. The story of Barfi and Jhilmil tugs at your heart because their love is simple, sweet and endearing. The movie had such powerful moments that guys in front of me in the theatre ended up in tears (a rare sight for me). The scene when his first love returns to his life and sees them together and asks him Are you guys married? Barfi replies- No, we are in love. This scene was the most powerful moment for me and reaffirmed my faith that yes, love indeed is life. The way their story ended is what made their journey perfect and their moments eternal. Go and immerse in the beauty of Barfi, and I guarantee that you will come out teary-eyed.
