A construction barge is to discharge a lifeboat from the main deck by a rolling flat rack to a seamanship centre being built at Puerto Montt. The discharging can only commence on 17th February during morning flood tide when the ramp is horizontal with the jetty. The barge master decides that the maximum angle of inclination of ramp acceptable for the operation is 450 to the jetty. The charted height of the landing area is 0.3m and the distance of ramp from water line is 5.8m. The length of the ramp is 5 m. (a) Calculate the earliest time discharging can commence (b) Calculate the latest time the operation should cease during the same flood tide.
