JV baseball improves to 5-0-1 in conference play, 10-3-1 overall

In a second game of a conference doubleheader as a result of a postponment, the Romeo High School junior varsity baseball team found itself once again the visitor on the varsity field. Down 4-1 at one point, the `Dogs clubbed out eight runs in the 4th to pull away and eventually force the mercy rule to come into effect to beat Ford, 15-4. Connor Noch led the way with a two-run home run in the fourth. Derek Staelgraeve added a grand slam in the top of the 5th. Noch ended 3 for 4 in the game and Greg Antoine, Luke Fennell and Staelgraeve all had two hits. Noch pitched all five innings on the mound, recording his second win. Kevin Guigar came off the bench for a pinch hit. In the two-hour, sub-varsity rule game, the Bulldogs recorded a rare tie against conference rival Ford, 2-2. Fennell pitched all eight innings for the team, striking out 10. Evan Richardson led the way with two hits and Austin Doan and Trevor Medley scored for the dogs On Monday, May 9, the team beat L'Anse Creuse North, 6-4. The Bulldogs played a great game against a very good team. They were down 2-1 in the 6th when they broke the game open with five runs with hits from Richardson, Fennell and Staelgraeve. Richardson earned the win for the Bulldogs after relieving Staelgraeve in the fourth. "These kids just keep finding ways to win," said head junior varsity Coach Tim Bussineau.
