2012 OLGMS REUNION CELEBRATION, DEC 7-12, 2012 | Issue 5.0 120512

Welcome Remarks
by Rev. Fr. Emerico Garcia, Rector, Batch 82

Remarks from Alumni Association Prex

By Albert Borrero, President, Batch 75

Welcome my fellow alumni and graduates to the A Journey Back To A Place You Called Home, The Minor! Remember these similar words your parents said when they brought you for the first time at the minor seminary, Anak, alis na kami ng tatay at mga kapatid mo, mag iingat ka. Maging masunurin kina Father. Mag aral kang mabuti. These similar words went a long way in our lives. These words became our pillars of faith, hope and love that enabled us to reach our dream to become seminarians of Our Lady of Guadalupe. As they say, our life was never the same again. The Alma Mater we loved most, nurtured and incarnated those precious send-off words our parents said and became our foundation to make us who we are today. In her abode, we are made to live anew the very words Socrates uttered minutes before his execution, thus: And I say let a man be of good cheer about his soul. When the soul has been arrayed in her own proper jewels temperance and justice, and courage, and nobility and truth she is ready to go on her journey when the hour comes. Last August 22,2012 we celebrated our 57th Founding Anniversary and the Alumni Board came up with a decision to bring us together on a week-long gathering from December 7 to 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and to celebrate a unique , once in a lifetime numerical date 1212-12. As all roads lead to our Alma Mater, let us bring with us the many significant memories and lessons in life that we cherished most until the end of our lives. At the end of the day we say these similar words Nay, Nanay LUPE narito po ako, dumadalaw po, nagpapasalamat at naihanda nyo po ako upang harapin ang pangkasalukuyan na dati ay pangarap lamanghingin ko po muli ang inyong Maka-Inang patnubay I am inviting you brothers to Journey Back To A Place We Call Home, THE MINOR! WELCOME BACK Brothers!

It is the desire of the current AA Board to see that all our alumniyoung, not so young, and young oncefind that it matters to be engaged with each other. We must will to see it that. How do we start? The Triple Doce Homecoming will be that first small step to reach out. Reaching out is a spark for engagement. We want to interest you enough to find something useful and worthwhile to associate with our AA. Your coming will be the first steps to restart and strengthen our engagement. It is never too lateno matter which generation or batch you belongto start than now. Join us. Reach out. Be part in this year's journey back to a place you once, and should again, call home: Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary.

Seal of Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary

The surrounding circle with the words Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary and City of Makati indicates the name of the institution and the place. Its year of foundation is 1955. The symbols inside the circle signify devotion to the Blessed Mother. The rays illumine the brightness of Our Lady of Guadalupe as it appears on the miraculous tilma. The AM overlapping each other means Ave Maria, the first lines of the Archangel Gabriel during the Annunciation. Lastly, the tulip in the center of the seal is the Marian symbol that stands for unity in prayer because of the formation of the petals, which are like clasped hands joined in fervent contemplation.
