Ghettos were camps in which Jews were imprisoned. Living conditions were horrible, people were stuffed into these camps with diseases that killed tens of thousands of people. Thousands of people also died from hunger. The Germans soon began their exterminating. The Nazis established special mobile killing squads called the Einsatzgruppen which were sent with the German army, they followed the army into the soviet union to kill all the Jews in the city. They would shoot thousands of people at close range. This eventually took a toll on the murderers so they set up special camps in which they stuffed hundreds of Jews into a gas chamber and killed them, the total number that they murdered in their power was around 6,000,000 Jews. Everyone thought that Jews were evil. When the Nazis came to power they wanted to eliminate the Jews because people did not like the Jewish very much. The Nazis thought that they had to find a permanent solution to this "Jewish problem" so they started exterminating the Jews by putting them in extermination camps, and by sending special squads to kill them.
