his/her poetry? Choose a poem you liked from your reading. What year was it written? What was going on in the country the poet lived in at that time? What was going on in the world at that time? In what ways may s/he have been influenced by the events of the age in which s/he lived? Consider the 6-8 poems you read. What general comments could you make about his/her: Subject matter Style What common themes can you identify among the poems you have studied? To what extent would you describe the poet as modern in his/her attitudes and writing? Select three of the poems you found most interesting. Write a detailed response to these poems using either Six Steps to Help Analyse a Poem, or the TP-CASTT method of analysis.
