Emergency/Disaster Plan for Stowers Elementary

Stations
A. Command Center Set-up Command Center at the handball court

Personnel

Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Principal: * Take out two walkie-talkies (1- Front Gate 1Command Center) * Collect yellow Disaster forms, check for all staff and students present. * Implements and coordinates the emergency operation. * Controls internal and external communication. * Account for all itinerate staff. Secretaries and Itinerate Staff: * Help take equipment and supplies to the Command Center. * Go to stations as directed by the principal.

Equipment/Supplies
Take: *Walkie talkies (2) *Bullhorn *Cell phone *Master keys/Storage Shed Keys *School map showing locations of all emergency team stations with identities of the station leaders *Each teacher with students position at the evacuation area *Wheelchair *Extra batteries for flashlights

B. Disaster Coordinators

Team Leaders: 100 bldg. Jennifer Whitaker 200 bldg. Cortney Pyle 300 bldg. Jeff Ives

Responsibilities of the Team Leaders:


*Assist in the evacuation of classes to their assigned areas. *Collect class roll sheets and bring it to the command center. *Ensure all teachers are in their assigned areas. *Perform other duties as directed by Command Center

Personnel
All Staff Teachers will take care of all minor injuries at the evacuation area. First Aid Center is for emergencies only!

Responsibilities
Responsibilities of individual teachers: 1. Evacuate classroom to specific evacuation area (grass off the playground). See the emergency plan map for exact locations. 2. Take Emergency Backpack with you. 3. Ascertain the extent of injuries and capabilities for these unable to be evacuated. 4. INJURED Evacuate those with minor injuries. Leave students you cannot help. a) Complete Missing/Injured Yellow Card attached to your classroom role sheet. b) Give the role sheet and missing/injured card to your team leaders 5. Pin the students white label (release form in your backpack) on to each child. 6. Teachers should put on the red vinyl vest in your emergency backpacks.

Equipment/Supplies
Take: Emergency Backpacks should include: 1) First Aid Kit 2) Materials Kit Classroom key and Allen wrench used to lock door. Roll sheet Buddy roll sheet Student Release Forms (white labels) Flashlights Batteries Green/Red Card Safety Pins Safety Plan *Rm. 305 & rm. 208 should bring the walkie-talkie from the workroom of each building and give it to the team leaders: Melissa & Jeff

Set-up Classroom Evacuation Areas on grass off the playground. ( See the emergency plan school map.)

C. Search and Rescue

Personnel
2 teachers needed from each building. 200 Bldg. Cortney Pyle & Kris Andaya

Responsibilities
Responsibilities of Search & Rescue: Do not go in an unsafe structure. Check classrooms VISUALLY, VOCALLY, AND PHYSICALLY. Check areas NOT cleared by staff: *100 building: offices, nurses office & toilet, computer room, workroom, restrooms, lounge, kitchen *200 Building: Conference, work rooms *300 Building: Conference, work rooms *Restrooms in 100, 200, & 300 bldgs. 1. 2. 3. 4.

Equipment/Supplies
Take:

Meet at Command Center (Home-base)

Station *Delayedleave until Immediate victims are moved to First Aid *Deaddo not touch. 6. Put yellow sticky on all doors of rooms checked and found empty, close door, lock exterior doors only. 7. When finished locating missing/injured, report back to Command Center for further direction.

*Search and Rescue Backpacks *Master Keys *Search & Rescue Bag (in shed) *Walkie-talkies, *Chalk *Labels for student care *Map of school Collect yellow Missing/Injured Cards from the *Flashlight Command Center. *Hard hats Locate people listed as missing, if the bldg. is *Clipboard safe to enter. Work with a partner. *Yellow Missing/Injured Missing persons found & okay - return cards to evacuation area (classroom teacher). *Permanent Marker Missing persons found & INJURED: * Masking tape call Command Center (walkie-talkie). Responsibilities
Responsibilities: 1. Ensure that all supplies are at the area by the tree. 2. Administer first aid and record information on extent of injuries and first aid administered. 3. Determine need for medical assistance. 4. Work with Search and Rescue Team 5. Keep track of and record time and location to which injured students staff are transported and report information to the Command Center. 6. Notify Command Center of students in the first aid and crisis areas. Responsibilities: 1. Check students out with the white label. Verify ID of person here to pick up student. 2. Parent or authorized person on the list must sign the child out. 3. Check Parent ID with yellow emergency card 4. After verification, command center ill bring child to the reunion gate.

Equipment/Supplies
Take: First Aid Kit Master Kit Map of school to record critical injuries called in by Search and Rescue Team
