Based on the application file you submitted, I would like to offer you a research
assistantship starting this coming fall semester. The assistantship covering the following
items:
1. 1,250.00/month salary
2. Health and dental insurance
3. All employee benefits offered to the UT TA/RA Employees
4. Overhead charge 51% of all the above expenses
5. Tuition and fees
6. All the software and hardware needed for your dissertation research
Based on the 2009 estimation, the total cost including items 1 to 6 will be around
50,000.00/year. The cost of the sixth item is varying from project to project. It may vary
from 10 K per year to 200 K per year. The support will be for 4 years starting summer
semester of 2009. The continuation of the support is contingent upon the
satisfactory progress of your research and course work.
It is to be noted that I ACCEPT Ph.D. STUDENTS ONLY. If your intention is to get a
master and quit, you shall not come based on this offer. It is impossible to use research
grant to support a master thesis work which does not provide in-depth investigation of the
on-going research programs. I want to make this message as clear as possible in the very
beginning. If your intention is go for PhD, you are welcome to join us.
