FROM THE DESK OF SECRETARY: 2008-2009

Dear Members, I am glad to present the Annual Report 2008-2009 and welcome you to the Fourteenth Annual General Meeting of the Society. In an increasingly fast changing world and in the backdrop of the financial meltdown the Society has been successful in receiving continuous support from the Donors. It is this faith/trust of the Donors that has assisted the Society to complete another eventful year. A significant increase in the amount of donations received has enabled the society not only service the loan taken for the construction of the School building but also make further additions to the existing structure. We are slowly and steadily marching ahead and with this kind of support from the Donors, it is simply a matter of couple of years when construction of the school building will be completed.

The society realizes the importance of education and will continue to support the needy in their pursuit of knowledge. The Society has continued to provide Scholarship for education. The Society continues to hold Meditation camps to help us overcome the ills of the modern world and provides us an insight to our own potential. Meditation is way of healthy life and an indispensable instrument to redirect the very basic instincts of human being for benefit of the human civilization at large. The strength of a nation depends on the quality of its citizens, of which Health plays a very significant role. Health awareness about common ailments and its cure, which will help us removing misconceptions about them amongst downtrodden people and a class of the society which finds itself at great disadvantage when trying to connect with world. It is here that the Society is acting like a bridge and passing on the relevant information to these people and enabling them to lead a healthy life and at the same time preventing infectious diseases from spreading.

The Society is also interested in building better and healthy "Bharat", that is, the rural India. Microfinance is one such mode which can change drastically the

rural economics and its dynamics. However, the society is exploring its feasibility from the legal angle and will soon pursue once all the legal formalities are completed. In its pursuit to assist rural people, the society had organized an animal husbandry camp in association with an NGO called Association for Rural Development to impart education on poultry farming and healthy way of keeping and nurturing cattles. The Society is geared to convert the advantage arising out of the current situation and redirect them for the general good of the people and humanity at large. We look forward to the future with great hope and with full realization of our responsibilities towards the society. I would like to thank all the members and staff who continue to support us all through, without whom it would have been impossible to achieve so much in such short span of time.
