County Executive McCoy Seeks Nominees for Annual Volunteer Awards

They give their time, energy, ideas and roll up their sleeves to benefit our community. Now Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy wants to recognize volunteers for their selfless efforts with the annual Albany County Executives Volunteer Award. There are many people who help our community and provide valuable service while sharing their time, said McCoy. My office is reaching out to organizations and the public to say thank you and formally recognize those who lend their expertise to help others. Its heartening to see people willing to step up at a time when non-profits and community groups face fiscal challenges due to shrinking resources. Volunteers help fill the gap and for that I am grateful. We deeply appreciate their compassion and concern and these awards will enable us to recognize them for those who make our community what it is. Letters have been sent to non-profits and community organizations asking for nominations. The deadline is March 22nd and nomination forms are available at albanycounty.com. The County Executive will present the awards at an event to be held on April 23rd. Its important that we honor those selfless individuals who mentor youngsters, work at blood drives, assist in animal shelters, give their time at our local hospitals or help our seniors stay active, said McCoy. These awards provide some recognition and enable us to thank them for a job well done. ###
