Timothy J. Atkinson Memorial Scholarship

Deadline to apply is April 1, 2013 (Westminster, MD) March 14, 2013 -- The Arc of Carroll County is accepting applications for the Timothy J. Atkinson Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was established in honor of the former executive director of The Arc, who passed away in 2008. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who intends to enter a field that will assist or advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To be eligible the student must be a Carroll County resident and must be a graduating high school senior accepted for admission or a current college student attending as a full-time student at an accredited college or university in pursuit of a related degree. Applicants are required to complete the application form and provide a high school transcript, a letter of recommendation from a school administrator, teacher, or volunteer coordinator, an essay explaining why they would like to enter the field, and a description of any volunteer or community service work completed involving service to the developmentally disabled.
