The module "Routes to Success" is assessed through a "Learner Portfolio. Studying is not simply about transferring a set of facts from lecturer to students, but about developing yourself as an individual and recognising that you are responsible for your own learning. Knowledge in the 21st century will move ever faster and in such a knowledge economy, where the shelf life of much knowledge is short, you will be expected to be a lifelong learner. In order to do this, you need to a resilient learner, understand how best you learn and reflect on how you can improve. This module will help you actively engage with this process. The portfolio The assessment will be in the form of a portfolio and comprise: Getting Started in Higher Education Making Progress Sustaining Success These three areas will be delivered by three different lecturers: Pat Maier, Martin Counihan and Su White. The assessment You will be marked on the quality of your comments (reflection) with respect to: How well you have applied the topics to your own learning. Provision of evidence from reading or from your own work (including a number of exercises). Quality of your presentation. Submission dates Documents must be handed in by 4pm to the Foundation Year office on the dates specified below. Check the dates on BlackBoard. You must use the templates provided and limit your portfolio to no more than 5 A4 pages. The templates are available on the BlackBoard site.
