Help Me Get Off This Island: Experiences With Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

1st Place: $250 Publication in the anthology, Certificate, and 5 print copies upon release 2nd Place: $125 Publication in the anthology, Certificate, and 3 print copies upon release 3rd Place: $75 Publication in the anthology, Certificate, and 2 print copies signed upon release 4th Place and beyond: Publication in the anthology and Certificate Examples of traumas that can lead to PTSD (this list is by NO means all-inclusive): Sexual assault and rape Warboth soldiers and civilians Hurricane Katrina, the 9/11 terrorist attack, and other major events: earthquakes, car crashes, tsunamis, rail/ subway crashes, tornadoes, hurricanes Experiences of police & emergency first responders Mass shootings: surviving victims or the family members of deceased victims Childhood and/or domestic abuse Please note that many have been through one or more traumas on this list. However, it is a requirement for this anthology that you have PTSD from that trauma. If you have not been diagnosed with PTSD or treated for PTSD symptoms, this is not the anthology for you. The one and only exception will be submissions from family members and friends who have lived and dealt with loved ones who have PTSD and are willing to share their side of the story.

Guidelines for Entry:


Your story must be TRUE overall (locations and small details can be changed for privacy reasons) Author must be at least 24 years of age or older. There is no maximum age. Names other than yours must be changed for legal reasons Your story MUST be about your original trauma and subsequent experience with PTSD or your experiences with a loved one who has/had PTSD Suggested: minimum page count of 5, maximum page count of 15. This is fluid depending on the story and simply a suggestion. Stories may be submitted anonymously or under a pen name. However, to be considered for the contest, I will need your full name, address, and phone number. These will be kept in the absolute STRICTEST confidence. Must be typed 12 point Times New Roman or Arial Font Must be saved and submitted as a .Doc or a .Docx file Absolutely NO slang or text talk unless it is a direct quote integral to the story Submit your entries to ptsdanthology@gmail.com. Write ENTRY in the subject line.
