#1 Configuration A is a better choice.

The cavity is fed from the bottom, allowing air to be forced up and out in front of the liquid flow, rather than being entrapped by the waterfall flow in Configuration B. Similarly, the vent location in Combination A allows the air to be expelled from the mold cavity as the flow front sweeps into the cavity. Combination Bs vents location may entrap air, as it is isolated near the inlet, rather than at the extreme end of the mold cavity, toward which the flow moves. A will probably take longer to fill, as it is a bottom-gated mold. But part quality will take precedence over time to fill.
