Consumer durables involve any type of products purchased by consumers that are manufactured for long-term use. As opposed to many goods that are intended for consumption in the short

term, consumer durables are intended to endure regular usage for several years or longer before replacement of the consumer product is required. Just about every household will contain at least a few items that may be properly considered to be of a consumer durable nature. One of the most common of all consumer durables would be the furniture found in the home. This would include items such as sofas, chairs, tables, bed frames, and storage pieces such as chests of drawers and bookshelf units. While once thought to be limited to only items made of sturdy metal or wood, any type of furniture today that is intended for use over the period of at least a few years can rightly be classified as consumer durables. Another common example of customer durables in the possession of most households is appliances. These items may include ovens, refrigerators, toasters, and gas or electric water

heaters. Consumer durables of this type are intended for use on a

Plasma About plasma technology Plasma television technology is similar to the technology used in a fluorescent light bulb. The display itself consists of cells. Within each cell two glass panels are

separated by a narrow gap in which neon-xenon gas is injected and sealed in plasma form during the manufacturing process. The gas is electrically charged at specific intervals when the plasma set is in use. The charged gas then strikes red, green, and blue phosphors, thus creating a television image. Each group of red, green, and blue phosphors is called a pixel (picture element).

This technology is different from that of a traditional television. A traditional television has a cathode ray tube, or CRT. A CRT is basically a large vacuum tube in which an electronic beam, emanating from a single point in the neck of the tube, scans the face of the tube very rapidly, which, in turn lights up red, green, or blue phosphors on the tube's surface in order to create an image.

The main advantage of Plasma over CRT technology is that, by utilizing a sealed cell with charged plasma for each pixel, the need for a scanning electron beam in eliminated, which, in turn, eliminates the need for a large Cathode Ray Tube to produce video images. This is why traditional televisions are shaped more like boxes and Plasma televisions are thin and flat.

Plasma screens, as the name suggests, use a matrix of tiny gas plasma bubbles coated by phosphor and charged by precise electrical voltages to create a picture.

Plasma technology operates on the premise that each sub pixel within a plasma display is a microscopic fluorescent lamp that emits one of the primary colors (red, green or blue). Technicians are able to create a multitude of tints by varying the intensity of the light from these three sub pixels. When its time to display an image signal (RGB or video), a digitally controlled electric current flows through the flat screen, causing the plasma inside designated bubbles to give off ultraviolet rays. This light in turn causes the phosphor coatings to glow the appropriate color. The millions of RGB bubbles glowing and dimming combine to make a rich, vivid image. Because the light emitted by the plasma is ultraviolet radiation, which is invisible to humans, it must be changed into a visible form of energy. To achieve this transformation, the wal ls of the plasma tube are coated with a UV-sensitive powder that emits white light. This powder, often called a phosphor, is known as a scintillator - a material that converts one type of radiation to another. Crts also contain scinitillators that convert the electron beams into visible red, green or blue light.

Working of LCD

The liquid crystals are sandwiched between two transparent electrodes and thin film transistors. Above shown diagram is self explanatory. Thin film transistors and liquid crystal are used in LCD TV with control circuit. These thin film transistors are acting as a switch. When the respective transistor is switched ON then liquid crystal is aligned in such a way that the backlight (lamp at the back of LCD) passes through liquid crystal. This light will pass further through color filters which produces the required color image on screen.

A picture tube which is also known as the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) is consisting of Electron Gun, Anode, & Accelerating Plates.

Electron Gun generates the electron beam which is accelerated towards the anode which is nothing but the phosphor coated screen by the high potential accelerating plates. At the screen this beam is get scanned from top to bottom & left to right resulting in the actual Video information i.e. the Images.

INTRODUCTION This chapter aims to understand the research methodology establishing a framework of evaluation and revaluation of primary and secondary research. The techniques and concepts used during primary research in order to arrive at findings; which are also dealt with and lead to a logical deduction towards the analysis and results RESEARCH DESIGN

The research design applied here was exploratory research and descriptive research. Exploratory Research is one in we dont know about the problem, we have to find about the problem and then work on solving the problem. Whereas in case of descriptive research, we know the problem, we just have to find the solution to the problem. Generally descriptive research design is applied after exploratory research design. Here after doing the secondary research, we found the general perception about the retail baking but then in second phase we tried to figure out where the difference lies and on what basis the banks differ from each other

RESEARCH TOOL Research tool The purpose is to first conduct a intensive secondary research to understand the full impact and implication of the industry, to review and critique the industry norms and reports, on which certain issues shall be selected, which remain unanswered , this shall be further taken up in the next stage of secondary research. Though, best efforts have been made to make the study fair, transparent and error free. But there might be some inevitable and inherent limitations. Though outright measure are undertaken to make the report most accurate. The limitation of the survey are narrated below: It was not possible to cover each and every Retail shop due to time constrains. There may be some biased response form the respondents Some respondents did not provide the full data. Unwillingness on the part of the customers to disclose the information as per the questionnaire. The decisiveness on the part of the customers regarding some question hence difficulty faced in recording and analyzing the data.

During the survey it is observed that what are the real problems faced by the customer. Meeting different people in various segments, interviewing with corporate and actual users helped me to learn the basics of Consumer Durable Companies.

During the survey I came to know the real competition between the major players
of Consumer Durable Companies. It helped me to understand the future of Consumer Durable Companies with its opportunities and threats.

With respect to the above study and the findings thereby, the Companies has definitely entrenched into the urban market.
