A DAY TO REMEMBER

Anniversary is not a proper word Seems once they get elected

To mark the meaning of that day And they join that unique group
And now, five years from that date They forget from whence they came
Is not nearly far enough away. And get caught up in the loop.

Too many families and loved ones Not all of them are worthless
Still feel that pain down in their Soul But seems there are very few
From the Towers to the Pentagon Who really want to do right
To those who heard those words, “Let's roll!” And represent me and you.

Hearts still ache and tears still flow Our system is really broken
On the eleventh of another year And there is really no quick cure
Those who lost will always miss But at the polls in November
All those People they hold, dear. We can make a change, for sure.

There are still unanswered questions So many things must be done

For those who ask the reason, “Why?” From our border to border
Was it really necessary But there should be a sign in DC
For all of those folks to die? That says it all, “Out of order!”

The nine/eleven Commission Some of the victim's families

They asked and probed and dug Have been working every day
Their many recommendations To try to make a difference
Some dismiss, with just a shrug. They could show us all, the way.

To correct all those problems So as we celebrate the lives

Will step on way too many toes And mourn all of those who died
Might take some from their bottom line In all their names we must try
We all know, that's the way it goes. To regain our Nation's pride.

For those who make the rules “By and for the People”
Most politicians are the same Is the way that it should be
The only thing they care about And whether it will or not
Is to play the lobbyist's game. That is all up to you and me.

If anything is to be done
The People, are who will make it so Del “Abe” Jones
We must write or fax or call 9-5-2006
To make our Reps learn what we know.
