Rationale: This is the introductory lesson. Though the students have been in the same slot for the entire year, I felt that the students have not been interacting with different people. This introductory class will aim to break the ice and get the students (as well as myself) to get to know each other better. Materials and Resources: Teacher Papers and pencil crayons Students Students are expected to come to all classes with papers and writing utensils.

Lesson Activities: Teacher Activities Activating (anticipatory set): Learning-names Student Activities Review: what is an adjective? Each student will think of an adjective that starts with the same letter as their first name. Well go around the circle and introduce ourselves using the adjective. Time 5 min. 15 min.

Acquiring/Applying: Thinking about myself, and finding what I have in common with others.

Students will think, and list what they would tell others if they were to tell someone about themselves. Students should write at least 2 strengths and 2 weaknesses The paper will be passed around and each person will put a check mark beside something that they have in common with the original owner of the paper The people with the most common things shared will be partners. Lesson Title: Name: Exploring self Lesson #: Subject: 2~3 EAL multi-level CT: Mrs. B. Agpalza Grade(s): 8~12

Rationale: Continuing from the first lesson, students will further exploring themselves; during the first class, weve thought and shared their strengths, and weaknesses using present tense, and reviewing adjectives. In this lesson, students will discuss and explore using future tenses. By the end of the lesson, students will develop a better understanding of the future tense by creating a list of things they want to accomplish before death, by using future tense. Materials and Resources: Teacher Dictionaries Markers/Pencil Crayons Glue, Scissors, Construction papers Lesson Activities: Teacher Activities Warm Up: Adjectives Name game Activating (anticipatory set): Creating acronyms Student Activities Students will go around the room saying their adjectives and their names. Review: what is an adjective? Last class, weve looked at adjectives to describe the current self. This class, students will brainstorm for acronyms that they wish to be represented as in future, and create an acronym using their first name. When are future tenses used? What are the auxiliaries used in future tenses? - Will - Be going to - Am + future time frame Students will write short paragraphs on what they want to do upon graduation. All the sentences should be in future tenses, and will present a bit of it to the group. Students will create a list of Things to do before I die with at least 20 entries with the following criteria: - At least 20 entries - At least 3 pictures (either relevant to the entries or meaningful to self) - Explanation of 1 most meaningful entry using future tense.
