Djol

WAP-pages / Paul Nas / Last changed on 28-07-2012 Djol (Jol, Yol), is a mask-dance from the Temine-people from Sierra Leone. In the tradition it is played on square drums in different sizes; the siccos (or sicos). The mask is presenting a female although it is carried by a male during the dance. The song below from the Wassolon-CD is made by Mamady Keita himself and is a putting together some different Malinke- and Sususounds. It doesnt have a specific meaning; its the sounds that made the song.
