1. Your parents have decided to put new carpeting in the living room of your home. The room is 7 yards wide by 9 yards long. If it costs $34/square yard, how much will it cost to carpet the entire room? Hint: It is a rectangular shaped room.

2. Jen wants to plant a garden this spring and grow her own fruits. She has a small area in her yard that is just perfect for a first time gardener. The area is a perfect square, measuring 4 feet by 4 feet. How much would it cost Jen for soil if the cost of the soil is $2.25/square inch? 3. Maggie wants to build a ramp leading to her porch. Her elderly mother is moving in with her and has a difficult time using the stairs. The ramp will be shaped like an isosceles triangle.
