The teacher will explain that the group will be reading a story called The Gossip Monster and ask the students if they know what gossip is. The teacher will review the procedures for using anticipation guides. They will then complete the anticipation guide, with the teacher modeling how to complete the first statement or two if necessary. The teacher will use the anticipation guide statements as a starting point to explain to the students that they will be reading about and discussing the negative effects of gossip.
