Paula Li, Cooperating (Mentor) Science Teacher at Farrington High School Re: Ms. Danielle Padilla As the cooperating teacher for Danielle Padilla, I have had the pleasure of knowing her since 2012 when she became my Observation and Participation student, and then from 2013 to the present, my student teacher. Ms. Padilla immediately made an impression as being a very conscientious person and has also shown tremendous skill and professionalism throughout the duration of her student teaching period. From being with her in the classroom for usually 10 hours each school day for an entire semester now, it is evident to me that her dedication to the students as well as inborn personality fit teaching extremely well. Although new to the profession, her manner in the classroom is already one of a seasoned educator. Ms. Padilla has also taken a role in teacher collaboration. She is not afraid to speak up at meetings or to share her products with other colleagues. Ms. Padillas passionate attitude towards science draws students into the subject matter and her life experiences have developed her exemplary character as well. This, in conjunction with her content knowledge allows her to deliver well planned lessons and react to unexpected situations with wisdom and tact. It is clear that Ms. Padilla manages each class admirably, treats students fairly and her genuine care for and rapport with them is refreshing to see. She expects much from her students and makes them think, which results in student growth. Another thing that impressed me greatly was the timeliness, amount of, and quality of feedback Ms. Padilla gives the students. Her tenacity for constant improvement, reflection of how to teach, strong commitment to quality work and openness to receiving feedback makes her an individual that I would think any employer would value. Ive been teaching for ten years now but watching Ms. Padilla teach in the classroom has given me ideas on how to improve my own teaching and I feel that I myself will be a better teacher from now on, having had the privilege of working with her. Based upon my experiences with Ms. Padilla, I assert without reservation that she is an excellent teacher who is extremely dedicated to providing her students with a rigorous education. I feel strongly that Ms. Padilla will continue to succeed in her teaching practice and I am fully confident in saying that if hired, I know Ms. Padilla would be a very valuable contributor to your school.
