Corn Gods of the World Unite

Babalu Aye is the Cord God in the Haitian Voodoo tradition and is equivalent to Lazarus. In my Lazarus Come Forth paper I wrote that Lazarus was the same as Osiris. Some readers probably thought I was tripping. The ancient Mayans have a maize (corn) god who is virtually identical with Osiris and, like Osiris, was buried inside a tree. Corn became a symbol for the indwelling divinity because when the divine potential in man (Ausar) is resurrected (from subconscious to the forefront of our lives) the seeds (bijas/mantras) really have their full creative potency. Corn symbolized seed and seed symbolized a sound unit of power. There are 50 sound units of power in the Dravidian Yogic system. They are metaphorized as Ausars 50 oarsmen in Kamit and the 50 divine names bestowed upon the god Marduk in Sumer.
