Basic Competence: 5.2 Responding meaning and rhetorical steps in the essay that uses written language diversity accurately, smoothly, and acceptable in the context of daily life and to access knowledge in text form of: report, narrative and analytical exposition. 3. Learning Objectives: At the end of the lesson students are expected to: a. State the purpose of narrative text. b. Mention the generic structure narrative text c. Mention language feature narrative text. d. Fill the field in narrative text with a formula based on past tense correctly. e. Mentioned characters in the narrative text that has been read. f. Identify the generic structure narrative text that has been read. g. Identify language feature in narrative text that has been read. 4. indicators: a. State the purpose of narrative text b. Answer the questions according to the narrative text that has been read. g. Make a summary from the text has been read. 5. Learning Materials: Narrative Text a. Purpose: To amuse or entertain the readers with actual or imaginary experiences in difference ways. b. Generic Structure: Orientation, Complication, Resolution. c. Language Features: use of noun phrases, connectives, adverbial phrases of time and place, simple past tense, action verbs, saying verbs, thinking verbs, feeling verbs, and verbs of sense.

Example of narrative text A Greedy Dog A dog was feeling very proud of himself. He had found a big, juicy bone at the market. He quickly carried it in his mouth and ran off to find a place to eat it. He came to a stream which had very clear water. He started to walk across it, taking his own sweet time. He was thinking what a wonderful time he would have when he could eat the whole juicy bone, all by himself. Suddenly he stopped and looked down into the water. He saw a dog there looking back at him, also with a bone in his mouth. He did not know he was looking at himself. He said to himself, That dogs bone look bigger than mine. Ill grab his bone and run away as fast as I can!

Explaining and give clue about the lessons that will be learned. Main activities ( 80 minutes) a. Teacher explains about the narrative text (purpose, generic structure and language feature) using powerpoint. b. Teacher gives examples of narrative text. c. Teacher gives examples of mind mapping from the example of narrative text so easier for students to understand the story. d. Students create discussion groups (maximum 2 people) to complete the narrative fields in the text given by the teacher in accordance with the past tense. e. Students identify the generic structure in narrative text. f. Students mentioned the characters involved in the narrative text. g. Students with the group make the chronology of events in each paragraph in the table that given by the teacher.

h. Students answer questions about the narrative text that has been read. Closing activity ( 5 minutes) a. Students ask question that have not been understood in the learning process. b.
