TAG Observation: Date: 9/28 Teacher: Windy Levesque and Kristen Adams Grade level: N/A Task: Internship

discussion Observations: Met with TAG teachers for scope and sequence, my role, what I need based on my internship and curriculum strategies. Loved the class expectations: relax and let your brain absorb new information, be a listener, think before you talk, be a problem solver, ask complex questions, and make learning connections. I also appreciated, Thats impossible in a do not enter sign hard and impossible are not the same thing.

TAG Observation: Date: 10/24/12 Teacher: Windy Levesque and Kristen Adams Grade level: N/A Task: Parent meeting Observations: Meeting for new TAG parents about how children are screened, qualified, and what that means for their students. Parents seem to have more questions about TAG in the future in middle school then the actual program now! Most parents are aware of what happens in TAG because of siblings or neighbors. Some parents are visibly relieved that their children are finally identified. It makes me sad to see so much riding on the identification of TAG. Glad to see parents want their children in the program though. See powerpoint from meeting.

TAG Observation: Date: 12/5/12 Teacher: Jen Serafin Grade level: fifth Task: Research and collaboration Observations: Students were researching pioneers and presenting on multiple skills, characteristics, etc. Students were using computers and net books to research and determining how to present. Their choices were based on the project choice board, and they were able to determine their roles within their groups. The kids were blowing me away with their knowledge and connections!

TAG Observation: Date: 1/14/13 Teacher: Jen Serafin Grade level: second Task: History relationships with the Native Americans Observations: Students are writing from the first person based on their experience in class, teaching, and more importantly, personal research. I am impressed with their depth and ability to maintain a first person perspective.

TAG Observation: Date: 1/16/13 Teacher: Jen Serafin Grade level: third Task: Distribute CISS information to teachers on the third grade team, identify timelines and discuss organizational system to collect necessary data Observations: Teachers seem so bogged down, that this is not a priority, or that they have been teaching for so long, that they are jaded with the process as well. Hopefully their attitudes improve and they appreciate more time to adequately conduct CISS observations and collect data.

TAG Observation: Date: 1/26/13 Teacher: N/A Grade level: N/A Task: Fulton County Technology Fair Observations: This was my first technology fair, but I definitely plan to come back! The categories sound way more advanced then what they actually are, and can see a lot more students participating, TAG or not, because its made easier. Id love to see a local technology club to help kids get involved as well as submit ideas. It is first come first serve right now, and that is not an effective system. We need to train staff what is available too. I loved seeing how some children are seriously so intelligent! I was learning left and right!

TAG Observation: Date: 1/28/13 Teacher: Jen Serafin Grade level: third Task: Organize CISS data and prepare for Kristen Adams Observations: Many children have met the 5 characteristics on the CISS form, but it seems the data is skewed. Multiple special area teachers are finding all ten characteristics present in many children. I think we need a refresher on CISS forms!

TAG Observation: Date: 3/22/13 Teacher: Kristen Adams Grade level: first Task: Observe kindergarten and first grade Observations: There are not enough students for a separate Kindergarten and first grade class, so they are together in one classroom on the same day. Their schedule conflicts seem to pose an issue, but not too bad. They are learning the same units, and the kindergarteners seem to possess maturity to be able to handle the time with first graders with ease. Students were so engaged in their learning. Using their tongues and trying to locate those spots on their own tongues was pretty entertaining. It was also really relevant. I loved working with younger kids as well. They are so precious!!

TAG Observation: Date: 4/25/13 Teacher: Jen Serafin Grade level: N/A Task: Advocacy panel Observations: The presenters were very varied! It seemed most decisions about TAG are local, making me realize the need for advocating for the TAG program and students. Elitism common with students and attitudes of teachers apparently. I can completely understand that idea. I feel a little of this now with my ELA class. I want to make sure I can collaborate with my teams and have a sense of openness and a team spirit rather than elitism. Website: Very hard to hear logistically suggest microphones for next year

TAG Observation: Date: 4/30/13 Teacher: Terry Maness Grade level: 4 Task: Pioneers unit: researching then creating ghost town presentations to answer specific questions Observations: Students are scattered around the room working at square and circle tables, collaborating with their group. They researched a specific ghost town, then were creating a presentation to include the answers of the questions Mrs. Maness presented. Students presentations are accompanied by a visual. Students were drawing and printing pictures, creating two and three-dimensional visuals. All children made posters or models although technology was available to use. Students were given a rubric and the freedom to direct their presentations and accompanying visuals. Teacher is circulating and asking questions while they work. Students will present them to the class at the end of the day. Reviewed protocols -volume, posture, eye contact, no papers in front of face, etc. Looking to memorize next year. Kids asked questions after each presentation, which demanded engagement.

TAG Observation: Date: 4/30/13 Teacher: Kristen Adams Grade level: 4 Task: Researching boomtowns, creating presentations to answer specific questions, then presenting research projects technology based ( prezi) Observations: Teacher addressed connection between Westward expansion what they created needed to fit! I really appreciated the Product choice options (insert photo) which helped students recall their options and diversified the presentations. Some groups chose to use multiple presentations (Prezi and a three-dimensional model).

Journal time reviewed protocols, reflecting on experience, looking forward to assessment
