N=(Area*Lux)/(Lumen output*c o u*MF)

A=Area in Meters Lux requireds as per IS Standards Lumen output of the lamp as per Chart(light Emited from Lamp) N=No of Fittings Lux =Illumination in the Room C O U=Coefficient of utilization factor MF =Maintenance Factor To calculate COU we should have following details; Normally for 10 feet height room =0.3 Taking average of COU* MF is 0.6 If area is double height then we have to calculate the constant k K=(L*W)/Hm(L+W) Hm=Hc-Hs K=Room Index L=Length of the room W=width of the Room Hm=Mounting Height Hc=Ceiling Height Hs=Suspension Height After calculating the value of K,we have to find out COU from the chart Accordingly we have to calculate the No of Fixtures Eg:- Area=20*30 Required Lux=450 2*36 W CFL Lamps COU ? MF? Maintenance factor is one that weather the area is clean, semi clean or dirty. We have constant value very clean =0.9 Clean =0.8 Average =0.7 Dirty =0.6
