Learning Outcome(s)/Standard(s): Indicators: Children will create links between their own experiences and the others in their class. Assessment: Teaching Focus: The teacher will focus on behaviour management and student engagement throughout class discussions. Background to the learning: A. Teacher The teacher has taught and observed a few RE lessons in the class now and is capable to develop and lead the class in the topic of advent, what they mean and how to connect the discussion to the childrens own life examples. Childrens work samples. Class discussion. Children will use a class discussion to extend knowledge about the love and hope in their lives. Children will demonstrate an understanding of advent through the themes of peace hope and love and joy.

Last week we focused on peace and joy in the classroom and what those words mean to us. They Lesson Resources: Content of Lesson: A. Introduction 5 mins
Have the children sit on the floor and talk to the children about what where they see peace, joy hope and love in their worlds. Use this as a revision from what you have already covered in class.

Split the children into 4 groups and give each group a different piece of poster paper that either has peace, hope, joy or love written on it. Get the children to work to complete a copy of what they think the word looks like or feels like to them using discussion and prior knowledge as a basis for their work. This should include words, and images.

Early Finishers Extension Activities Get the children to come up with a saying to sum up the love and hope they experience in their lives. D. Closure 5 mins
Have the children pack up and return to the floor and get ready to share with the whole group about what their word meant to them.

Post Lesson Review: Teacher Effectiveness: The children were very focused with this activity and enjoyed making posters. Your instruction was very thorough and included everything you had planned. It was interesting to see the students perceptions of the topics. Associate teacher (2012) Student Achievement: I really remained composed and delivered a well-constructed and exciting lesson today. The children understood the purpose of the lesson and therefore produced some really impressing work. I was really proud of my efforts and my abilities to manage multiple groups with ease and composure.
