Art Integration Lesson Plan Template Discuss how we will be making the books as a summary of our key points Discuss some of the differences in each others books in terms of the journeys that were made Lesson Texts & Materials: Paper for the books that will be made Coloring/drawing materials

Lesson Activities & Procedure(s): 1. Discuss with the class that their books should accurately summarize the key points that they chose to write about. Focusing on connecting each key point with a new drawing 2. Hand out the rough draft paper for the illustrations to make sure that they know what and how they are going to go about their drawings 3. Teacher should review the drawings to make sure they can see the connections with the key points in the story 4. Finalize their drawings and publish their books 5. Publishing party where everyone gets to go around and read each others writings and look at their illustrations that go with the writing. Lesson adaptations for challenged learners: Students may find it better to look up picture online to help them depict their story

Lesson extensions/enrichments for gifted learners: Time permitting, the students can illustrate their other writing that they made depicting a different type of journey from their original

Formative Assessment strategies: Looking at their drawings as they are doing them Make sure they are accurately depicting their key points What student prior knowledge will this lesson require/draw upon? What a journey is/can be Their own personal experiences that they have had in their stories

Summative Assessment strategy: Looking at their finished product illustrations and make sure they correlate with the stories key points

How will you engage students in imagining, exploring, and/or experimenting in this lesson? Experimenting with different mediums (markers, crayons, colored pencils) within their draft drawings

How will this lesson allow for/encourage students to solve problems in divergent ways? Each student will have their own choice in how they will illustrate their drawings, and they have to figure out how to represent their individual key points How will you engage students in routinely reflecting on their learning?

Art Integration Lesson Plan Template Reviewing their drawings and have them explain how their drawings correlate with their story How will this lesson engage students in assessing their own work and the work of peers? Publishing party will allow student to walk around and read other students stories and illustrations What opportunities/activities will students be given to revise and improve their understandings and their work? They have their rough draft drawings to see how they plan to go about representing their stories, so they get to see what works for them as individuals What opportunities/activities will you provide for students to share their learning in this lesson? Publishing party and gallery walk to examine all students stories and illustrations Lesson Resources/References: Ideas on how to make the books for the students
