I asked Lajoieifhe had been in or throughthe cafeteria ar all during the day. He initially said no, and stated that he was actually
a student assistant in the cafeteria with EricMoody duringfourth hour, I asked him if there was anything unusualthat occurred
in or around the cafeteria and he stated there was not. I asked him if there were very many people in the cafeteria at that time
and he stated not many. I asked him if he noticed any unusual bags or backpscksand he stated he did not. I asked him if he
thought he would have noticed something like that, being the student assistant and he responded, "Yeah, definitely," Lajoie
stated that he had heard there were bombs in the cafeteria,but stared he had not seen anything in there.
I asked Lajoie if he knew eitherEric Harris or Dylan Kleboid and he stated he had not, He Slated that during his freshman year.

05/14199, 0845 00. Heather Lietz was interviewed by Detective S.C. Shott #72049
(DPD) at the Denver Police District Four substation, 2100 5. Clay St, Heather's father,
Officer John Lietz was present and sat in on the interview.
Ms. Lietz reported that she was in her 5'" period math class (math classroom 10) when the
incident started and she was unaware of any shooting going on at that time. While in
class she could hear people running down the hall and her teacher (Mr. Havens) when out
to tell whoever was running to he quite. The teacher came back into the classroom
moments later and told everyone to get out. At this time, the fire alarm activated. Ms.
Lietz said that she went out into the hallway and saw the fire doors close. At first she
thought that the science lab blew something up that caused the alarm to go off. Ms. Lietz
said that the class handled the situation as a routine fire drill and left the building. Once
outside, a teacher was there and told everyone to jump the fence and run across the street.
She said that she ran across Pierce 51. then into Leawood Park with other students. She
did not hear any gunfire coming from the school until she got to the park. She said that
the gunfire was coming from somewhere inside of the school. Ms. Lietz said that they
left the park and went inside of a woman's house (name unknown) and watched the
incident on TV. When they heard that the Trench Coat Mafia was involved one student
(Devon)said that it was probably Eric and Dylan.
Ms. Lietz said that she left her backpack inside of her classroom in the second row, first
seat from the door. She said that she saw the thought of the day and believed that it said,
"Today is going to be a bad day". She said that she knows Dylan Klebold because she
went to grade school with him. She does not know Eric Harris or any of the other TCM
gang. She did not see him on the Monday prior to the incident nor did she see him on the
day of the incident. The only people she knows who has af..double pierced eyebrow is
Brea(LNU) and Mark Hangle. )
Ms. Lietz said that either on the first or second day th.at she attended Chatfield High, she
talked with Lacey Smith. Smith. told her that she was in the cafeteria at the start and a
third person came up to her and said "Hi Lacey" then stepped aroundher and began firing
into the cafeteria. She did not reveal the name of this person but did say that it was not
Eric or Dylan.

Columbine High School that occurredOn April 20, 1999, Alsopresent duringthe interview was their father, Randy,
Jessica told me thatshe arrived at school on the incident date at about0725 hours and proceeded to her scheduled classes, At
about 1020 hours, she was supposed to go to her fourth hourbiology class, but she Slated she had gottensick so she wentto the

to her fifth hour class, which started at 1115 hours, Her fifth hourclass was a math class taught by Ms. Hazelwood, Jessica
explainedthat she was only in class for about fiveminutes or so when a student by the name ofAmanda (last name unknown I
was released from class to go to the public rest rooms, Shortly after Amanda left, she came running back into the mathclass,
telling the students that she had just seen Joey Millazzo near the rest rooms and he bad told her she needed to get out of the
school, there were men shooting Inside the school.Just after Amanda carnerunning backto class.Jessica stated that they heard
two gunshot" After hearing this the students left the classroom. Jessica stated she ran east down the math/science hallway and
exitedthe school and went 10 Leawood Park, Jessicawas asked if she saw any gunmenwhile in Columbine High School or If
she saw any gunmen after she had exited, She statedas she wasrunning out the east doors of the high school that she believes
she s.w an individual dressed in blackholdinga gun up on the roof of the school. I asked if she could provide. description of
'he individual, She statedshe couldn't. I asked ifsbe could providea description of the gun this person was carrying. She said
it wasn't. pistol, it appeared to be some long gun. Jessie. wasasked if she was sure about this information. She told me that
she believesshe saw someone. but she couldn't provideany additional information about the person,
Jessica was asked ifsbe knewthe members of the "Trench CoatMafia," specifically ErieHams or DylanKlebold, or if she knew
any associates. She couldn't provideany information on Harrisor Klebold, The only other person she knew that was involved
in the groupwas. female that had a nickname of"Devil Girl," She stated the party would wear barrettes in her hair and they
looked like"devil" horns. She described the individual as wearing dark clothing or the "Gothic" dressed and believed that she
waseithera freshman or sophomore. Jessicawas asked If she could provideany additional information reference this incidern.
She stated that she did not have any further information. I asked if she could describe her clothing dress on the Incident date,
She told me that she remembers wearing blue jeans, but that wasabout it. Jessica left her backpack in Ms. Hazelwood's
classroom and In her backpack was her school items and a cell phone,

Upon arrival at 9670 West Gould Avenue, I contacted Christine Markert, her sister, Michelle Markert, and Maria Torrejon.
Christine Markentold me on 4·20-99,at about I liS hours, she wentto her classroom on the second level of Columbine High
School, which is in the mathhallway. Christine Markert saidthe class wasgoingovertheirhomework, and afterabout 7 minute,
'he said she heard yelling outside of the classroom she was in. She said the yelling sounded to her like it was close to her
classroom and saidthenthe fire alarm for the school wentoff. Christine Markert said at this timethatshe believed the incident
wasa Senior prank, Christine Markert said she beganto exit herclassroom and saw the students in Mr. Haven', class.which
is next to hers, running out. ChristineMarkert said she wentoutside of her classroom and as she did so she heard something
explode. Christine Markert said she thought the explosion probably came from the chemistry lab area of the high school.
Christine Markert said she ran out of me school through the doors nearest to the math han and ran into Leawood Park. Shesaid
while she was in Leawood Park Rachel Erbert told her that a teacher by the name of Mr. Sanders had been shot inside the
cafeteria and that there was a lot of blond inside. Shesaidshe alsosaw a female. unknown name. on the ground at South Pierce
and West Fair. on the comerof Leawood Park. witha leg injury Christine said somebody told herthat this unknown female had
a minor injury, however, she later heardthat the female had a gunshot woundthrough her ankle.
Christine Markert said someone suddenly yelledto the people in Leawood Parkto run so she ran to a friend of her's house by
the name of Brett O'Neil's house at an unknown address in the Leawood area,This is where Chnstine Markert said she called
Mary Markertfrom, on 4·20·99. Christine Markert further said while she was in Leawood Park she did not see anybody at
Columbine High School eitherwith or without firearms or explosives. Shesaidpriorto running from Leawood Park she did not
hear any further gunshots or explosions.
Christine Markert said on 4-20·99she was not in the cafeteria. She saidshedid not know suspectKlebold or suspect Harris prior
to this incident, and said she only heard the name of the "TrenchCoat Mafia," She did not know anything aboutthe "Trench
CoatMafia" otherthanto say she believed therewasaboutfivemembers and that they were "Gothic,"wearing trench coats and
blackmake-up. She said theydid like to play cards while they werein thecafeteria together, She said she did notseethembeing

Christine Markert said she usesthe Internet, but does nothavea screen name, nor does she useany chat lines. Shesaidshe does
not know of anyonewith a double pierced eyebrow.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Markert family has an exchange student from Spain livingwith them by the name of MariaTorrejon. MariaTorrejon was
in the school when the incidentoccurredon 4-20·99and mayhave seena shooter. Christine Markert said that Maria Torrejon
has notyet been interviewed. [advised them ! would determine whether another investigator had beenassigned to interview her
or not.

INVESTIGATION:
On Tuesday, 07·06·99. at approximately 1330hours, I contactedwitnessMcMullin at her residence. I asked her 10 provideany
tdditicnai information in reference to this case. Witness McMullin said on 04·20·99 during fifth hour. she had that particular
period free, and was in the Math office with teachers Robin Ortiz and Michelle Dimenna. She indicated that she had heard a
commotion in the hallway and the two other teacherspreviously namedstepped out for a period of time then came back intothe
Math office and said something to the effect of"There's gunshots." WitnessMcMullinsaid at that time she enteredthe hallway
and had heard two or three more gunshots. Witness McMullin could not be specific as to where these particular shots were
occurring, but said that she proceeded to run down the Math hallway area. open doors and tell other teachers and students to get
out. She indicated at this time. she along with numerous students and teachers exited the fire exit in the Math hallway This
particular door is locatedat the main entrance and faces South PierceStreet. She indicated that the fire alarm had sounded and
noted that the commotionshe had heard earlier were studemscomingupstairs from the cafeteria. She advised that she wentout
with students to the Leawood Park area across South Pierce Street. She said that she was informed that Stephanie Munson was
on the corner of West Fair and South Pierce Streetandwas told thatshe bad been shot in the ankle. She indicared that as a result
of what she knew at this point. she directedstudents and teachers intothe LeawoodPark area itself some climbingover thechain
link fenceto the park. others going up the streetand around the fence. She bid that they had all stayed approximately half way
across when she thought she heard additional gunshots coming form the main door on the east side of the building. Witness
McMullin said that she did not actually see any shots being fire, but it was moreofa situationwhere she was told that therewere
nmshots coming from that particular area and directed studentsand other faculty members to the far east side of the park. She

indicated that they had stayed in this area for several minutes, when she heard two to three explosions go off in what she
perceivedas the back partof the building. She said that she wasin the park itself whenshe was contactedby police officersand
was told that they had to move from this particular area at which tim. she did. She said that she went to a residence located
within the neighborhoodand the homeowner invitedthem into the house. She said that she had stayed at this residence for a
period of time, but said that the homeowner, the fatherof a studentthat was still in the school was unable to locate his daughter.
She said that she had went with this particular individualto the Columbine Public Library and attempted tv assist parents and
studentswith questions,however,she "felt useless." Shesaid thatparentsand studentswould ask her questionsand she did not
have the answers and this was the reason for her feeling useless at that time. She said that she had obtained a ride to her
husband's work, Goddard School. She arrivedat that location at approximately 1430hours at which time she was taken home
by her husband. She said that she did not see any gunmen, did notsee any smoke Or fire, and had not assistedStephanie Munson
with her injuries. as she knew that she had already had help. Witness McMullindid not provide any further information.

INVESTIGATION:
On 06·10·99, at about 1:35 p.m., I conducteda telephoneinterview with CHS teacherElizabethMcWilliams as follow up on
DN4115,
Elizabeth told me that on 04·20·99, at about II: 15 a.m., she was inside classroom MA·9 and had just began reviewing a
homework problemon the hoard. Followingthis review, Elizabeth said that student' beganturning in their assignments when
they heard a commotion coming from the hallwaydirectlyoutsideher classroomdoor, which was closed. Elizabeth saidthat
several students were running in said hallway, and that she and her students thought it was the result of a senior prank
Elizabeth said she then saw and heard fellow mathteacher Robin Ortizout in the hallway, and that he was yelling "Gel the bell
out!" Elizabeth said that Mr. Ortiz sounded very serious, and thatshe and severalof her studentsthought likewise, Elizabeth
said that"about half" of her studentsthen went to the door to inquirewhat was going on, and that Mr. Ortiz told them to "Get
out! Get out!" At that point, Elizabethsaidthat halfof herclass exited the classroominto the hallway, Elizabeth saidthat she
then told the remaining students to leave, and that as they were vacating the room, the firealarm sounded, Elizabeth saidthat
she was the last person to leave her classroom, and that the students who leftbeforeher went to both the right, toward the fire

exit door on the south side of the school (between rooms MA-7 and MA-8),and the left, towardthe southhallway that runs
Elizabeth saidthat uponexitingher classroom, sheturnedrightand rantowardthe fire exit dooron the south sideoftheschool.
Elizabeth said that prior to exiting this door, she hearda few gunshots whichshe assumed werecoming from the westend of
the southeast-westhallway,near the Science wing. Elizabeth saidthat most of thestudents werealready out of the Math area
and lor outsideat that time. Elizabethestimated that sheexited the school withina minuteof the fire alarm sounding. Once
outside, Elizabethsaid that faculty members were yelling at L'1. students on the south side of the school to get across Pierce
Street, into LeawoodPark, Elizabeth saidthatshethenraneastward. to the sidewalkon the westside of Pierce Street, nearthe
studentparking lot entrance. Elizabeth saidthat faculty members in the area continuedyelling at studeots to get across Pierce
Street. Elizabethsaid that sheremained onthesidewalk on thewest sideof PierceStreet,and thatshe thensawa female student
comeout of the main(east) doors of the school whoappeared to havebeen shot. Elizabethsaid that this female was escorted
acrossto the east side of Pierce Street. afterwhich she heard additional gunshots that appearedto be corning from somewhere
in the vicinity of the main doors. At that point, Elizabeth said that she decided it was time to cross Pierce Street herself
Elizabeth said that by this time, several studentswereexitingthe east side of the school and runningtoward Leawood Park.
Elizabeth said that she thenran acrossPierce Streetandentered Leawood Park. Elizabeth said that she remained nearthewest
SIde of LeawoodPark, whereshe assistedother faculty members in preventing "Iookie-Ioos" from running backacrossPierce
Streettothe school. Elizabethsaidthat sheremained atthislocauonforaboutten or fifteen minutes, at whichtime(about 1t:4 5
a.m.) sheheard more gunshotscoming from the main office areaon theeast sideof the school. Elizabeth said thatat thattime,
she"wasn't at an angle to see the front of the building." Elizabeth saidthat she also remembers hearing "bulletsricocheting:'
and thinks that some of the bullets may haveactually traveled acrossPierce Street. Elizabeth said that at that time, several
students beganrunning furthereast into Leawood Parkand the surrounding neighborhood. Elizabeth saidthat she wasunable

On 04-20.99,at about II: 15 a.m., the abovewitnesses werein their5" periodAlgebraclass, located in classroom MA-9 in the
school'ssoutheast wing. Eachadvisedthat atabout I I:23a.m., theyheardthesoundof students running,yellingandscreaming

in the hallways just outside the classroom door. Several witnesses reported hearing male teachers. variously identified as
"RobinOrtiz," "Mr. Havens." and "Mr. Capra." outside the classroom yelling something to the effect of "There.s a guy with
a gun- get out any wayyou can!" Immediately thereafter. most witnesses reported hearing the fire alarmsoundat about 11.25
a.rn, Atthat point. witnessesreportedexitingthe classroom andthenthe school, eitherthrough the south fireexit doorbetween
classrooms MA·7 and MA·S, which leadsto thejunior parking lot. or throughthe east doorsbetween classrooms MA-l and
LA-5, which leads to Pierce Street. Witness Brandon Martinez reported that he was the first in his class to exit thesouth fire
door. which, he thinks. activated the fire alarm in the Math wing.
Three witnesses reported hearing at least one gunshot prior to the fire alarm sounding, while still in the classroom. Two
witnesses reported hearing one or more explosions priorto the fire alarmsounding. whilestill in the classroom.
Ten of thewitnessesreportedexiting thesouth fire door(between MA-7 and MA-8). Ofthose, threereportedhearinggunshots
coming from the west side of the school whilethey werestanding on the sidewalk on the north side of thejunior parking lot.
Fivereportedhearingat leastOne explosion coming from thewestsideofthe schoolwhilethey werestandingon saidsidewalk.

Most of'these witnessesreported seeing students fleeing the westside of the school following these gunshots i explosions, at
about 11 :26 a.m. All of these witnesses then ran eastward, across PierceStreet into LeawoodPark, arriving in the park by no
later than 11 :30 am.
Nine of the witnesses reportedexiting the east doorsbetween MA-l and LA-S. All of these witness then ran eastward, across
Pierce Street into Leawood Park, arriving by no laterthan 1I:30 a.rn. None of these witnessesreported hearing any gunshots
or explosionsafter exiting the school but prior 10 enteringLeawood Park.
Nearlyeverywitnessreportedhearing gunshots and/orexplosions comingfrom the school approximately tento fifteen mmutes
after arrivingin Leawood Park( II :40 to II :45 a.m.) Atthattime,mostwitnesses reported running,or being toldto run, further
eastwardinto Leawood Park and the surroundingneighborhood. Witness Crystalann Keesecker reported hearing "whizzing
noises"and the "ping ping sound of somethmg strikingmetal," whichshe believes was the sound of bullets flyingoverhead,
some of which struck nearby structures, Witness Douglas Ford reported hearingthe "ricochet of bullets,"

. dropped him offin front ofthe school at about 11:05a.m., and that he then entered the school's main (east) doors. From there,
Garrett said that he walked north down the first hallway to his right and exited the school through the doors by the Post Grad
Center, near the northeast comer of the gym. From there, Garrett said that he walked to the «smoker's pit" near the tennis
courts' where he smoked a cigarette for about five minutes. After finishing his cigarette, Garrett said that he walked in a
southwest direction, toward the west side of the school.
Garrett said that he had intended to stop by the library to scan some documentsprior to going to his Algebra class. Garrett said
that he reached the west side of the gym and began walking south along the west side of the fenced maintenancearea. at which
time he heard an explosion coming from the senior parking lot Garrett said that this explosion was followed by smoke rising.
but that he could not see Itsexact origin from his vantagepoint. Garrett said that he stood motionless for "about thirty seconds,"
assuming it had been a senior prank. At that point. Garrett said that several students began running out of the west doors on
the north side ofthe library. Garren said that one of these students yelled, "There's a guy with a gun inside!" Garrett said that
most of these students ran northward, past him and toward the fence line for Clement Park. Garrell said that he then turned
around and ran back to the smoker's pit. Garren said that upon his return to the smoker', pit, he heard the fire alarm sound.
He estimated it was about it :20 a.rn. at that time. Garren said that he then jumped the fence and ran northward into Clement
Park. Garrell said that he never saw any shootens), nor anyone wearing a trench coat.

Brittany Duran said that on 04-20-99, she left the school following her 4" period class, which ended at about II; 10 a.m.
Brittanysaid that her friend. Amanda Mendralla (I I"), drove her home and dropped her 0 ffin front ofthe house, at which point
Amanda drove away, Brittany said that she returned home to pick up a homework assignment for her S" period Algebra class.
md intended to drive back to school in her own car. Instead, Brittany said that she decided to remain at home for the rest of
the day, which she did, Brittany said she learned of the shootings at the school from televised news coverage,
Brinany said that subsequent to 04-20-99, Amanda Mendralla told her that she had seen Dylan Klebold drive his black BMW
into the school parking lot at about l l: 12a.rn. that day,at the time they left the school. Brittany said that she had no recollection
of seeing such a car at that time.

SharmaGeslin said that on 04-20-99, at about 6:20 a.m.. she was driving northbound on Pierce Street in front of the school,
en route to the sophomore parking lot in Clement Park. At that time, Sharmasaid that she SaW four cars parked "side by side
by side" in the senior parking 101, which she considered somewhatunusual for that time ofday. Shanna was unable to describe
the cars or their occupants. Shanna said she continued to Clement Park, where she parked her ear and then walked tothe school
Sharmasaid that she entered the school's main (east) doors at about 6:30 a.m., and went to take a make-up test for a History
class. Shanna said that she remained insidethe school until about 8:40 a.m., after the start of her 2" period class, whereupon
she walked back to her car and drove home because of a "sore throat."
Sharma said that she felt better as the morning progressed, and drove back to school at about 11 :20 a.m. Shanna said that at
about! 1:30 a.m., she was driving northbound on Pierce Street, in front of the school, but encountered numerous students
running eastbound across the street. Sharma said that instead of attempting to continue north on Pierce Street. she turned right
onto eastbound West Fair Drive and parked her car on the south side of the street next to Leawood Park. From there. Sharma
said that she got out of her car and began walking west toward the school. Sharma said that while attempting to cross Pierce
Street, she heard gunshots coming from the school and was orderedto get away from the school. Shanna said that the goings
on in front of the school were very chaotic at that time. and that she then ran southward along the east SIde of Pierce Street.
Sharma said that she encountered her friend, Joshua Nettles (12~), in his car in the neighborhood southwest of the school,
Sharmasaid that she got into Joshua's car and that they then drove to Leawood Elementary School. where they remained for
several hours. Shanna said that she never saw any shooterts). nor anyone wearing a trench coat.
During the interview, Shanna mentioned hearing something"eerie and unusual" about the daily video announcementthat was
broadcast at the start of her 2" period. She couldn't remember much other than hearing something to the effect that "tcdays
the day" Also, Sharma mentioned a yellow poster in a window area on the south side of the south east-westhallway. between
the Math and Science wings. Sharmasaid this poster was an advertisement for the school prom. which was held on 04- I7-99.
and read "It's coming" followed by that date. Shanna said that prior to 04-20-99, someone had crossed out the date of"l?"
and replaced it with a "20." She thought this was something law enforcement should know

On May 18 1 1999, Investigator Duane Eaton of the Arvada Police

Department was assigned investigative lead bearing control #3394.
The source of the information was Bill Maron of the West Met40 Fire
«Rescue. The narrative portion of the form advised that Yonathan
Mekuria was assigned parking space #370 in the junior students
parking lot. The narrative also advised that Eric Harris' vehicle
had been found in space #371 at the conclusion of the incident at
Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Investigator Eaton was
assigned the task of contacting and interviewing Mekuria and
determine if he had observed anything suspicious in reference to
Harris' vehicle being parked in the slot next to his.
Investigator Eaton was able to make telephone contact with
Mekuria on May 19, 1999 at approximately 0955 hours. Investigator
Eaton identified himself to Mekuria and Mekuria agreed to ~~
interview with the investigator.
Investigator Eaton advised Mekuria that he was aware that
Mekuria normally parked his vehicle in assigned space #370 in the
junior students parking lot at Columbine High school. Mekuria
confirmed for tnvestigator Eaton that he was assigned space #370
and did in fact park his vehicle in that space. Investigator Eaton
advised Mekuria that on April 20, 1999 during the evening hours,
Eric Harris' vehicle had been found parked in space #371 which is
next to Mekuria's assigned parking space, Mekuria advised
Investigator Eaton that he had never observed a black vehicle
parked in that space until he had observed that vehicle parked next
to his on the television news.
Mekuria advised Investigator Eaton that on April 20, 1999, he
arrived at school at approximately 081S hours, Mekuria advised
Investigator Eaton that he does not have any classes first hour,
He advised that he arrived at school just prior to second hour.
Mekuria advised Investigator Eaton that he stayed inside the school
until the incident began,
Mekuria advised Investigator Eaton that normally when he parks

his vehicle in slot #370, he notices that slot #371 next to his is
empty, He advised that the student who is assigned that spot
appears to be absent from school eften. He advised that he
believes that a female student by the name of Liza is assigned that
aloc. He advised that he does not recall the type of car she
drives but believes it 1S a gray colored vehicle.
Mekuria advised Investigator Eaton when asked that he did not
know Eric Harris or Dylan Klebold. He advised Investigator Eaton
that he did not know che aubjects by sight nor was he acquainted

with them. Investigator Eaton asked him if he was familiar with

any of the other persons associated with the Trench Coat Mafia.
Mekuria advised Investigator Eaton that he was not familiar with
the persons in the group as a formalized gang. He advised that he
is aware that students occasionally made fun of this group of
students and jokingly called them the Trench Coat Mafia. He
advieed that this group of students then took on the name for
themselves. He advised tha~ he did not know any of the sUbjects
associated with the Trench Coat Mafia personally and he had never
had any problems with any of those subjects.
Mekuria advised Investigator Eaton that on April 20, 1999 at

the time the incident occurred, he was in math class. Mekuria
advised Investigator Eaton that he believes he was in rOom MA~3.
He advised that the math class was a trigonometry class taught by
Mr. Smith, Mekuria advised Investigator Eaton he believes this
mach room is the farthest math rOOm f=om the library area.
Mekuria advised Investigator Eaton that while in class, he
heard the fire alarm activate. He advised that prior to the fire
alarm, he had not heard any noises out of the ordinary. Mekuria
advised that he and the other students in the class left the class
and as they exited the classroom, noticed large amounts of students
running by. He advised that his class preccy much stuck tosethe~
as they evacuated the building. He advised that they went down the
hallway and exited a doer which faces Pierce Street. He advised
that he and most of his class walked directly across Pierce Street
into Leawood Park.
Mekur~a advised Investigator Eaton that while in Leawood Park
~aitin9 to see what was taking place, the only Bound out of the
ordinary he heard was a loud boom, which he now believes may have
been a bomb. Mekuria advised Investigator Eaton that he did not
hear any other strange noises and does not believe that he heard
any gunfire. Mekuria advised Investigacor Eaton that at no point,
to his knowledge, did he observe any of the suspected shooters.
Mekuria advised Investigator Eaton that he had no idea what was
going on inside the school an thought maybe there had been a
problem in the chemistry lab. He advised that only later did he
learn from other students and the television news what had taken
place inside the school,
Investigator Eaton concluded the interview wich Mekuria at

approximately lOOS hours.

where he is a student assistant in the counselingoffice fromapproximately 0920 to I()I 5 hours, and is in the administrative
offices at the east side near the main door. Darran said he had fourth hour off, from any classes. He said on 4.20·99, at
approximately [020 hours he went into the Columbine H.S. library to talk to some of his friends. Darran said he was in the
libraryuntilapproximately 1045hours. He saidwhilehe was in the libraryhe was with friendsby the nameofJacobBanner,
andanotherstudenthe knows onlyas Jeremy. Darran saidhedidnot seeanything out of the ordinaryor unusualwhilehe was
in the library, or in the area of the libraryon 4-20-99. He saidwhilehe was in the library with Jacob Banner, and Jeremy. they
sat near the windowsOn the west 'ide ofthe library
Darran said for his fifth hour class he went to math/geometry which is on the upper level of the school. Darren said when he
got intothe class roomhe got his booksout becausethere wasa test scheduled for that day. Darran said about 1[20 hours. on
,·20·99, he heard several people in the hallway, outsideof his class room screaming. Darran said he then heard what he
thoughtto be a shotgun being dischargedat an unknown location, somewhere outside of his class room. Damn said One of
the teachers, Mr. Ortiz, ran out ofthe class roominto the hallway to see whatwas takingplace. Darransaid the otherteacher
bythe name of Ms. Moore,stayed in the class roomwiththestudents. Darran saidMr. Ortiz lookeddownthe hallway andsaw
a studentrunningin the hall. He said Mr. Ortiz askedthe running student, "Wha; the hell are you doing?" This student (name
unknown), told Mr. Ortiz that someonewas downstairs with a gun. Damn said Mr. Ortiz returnedto the insideof the class
roomand shutthe doors, he did not knowif Mr. Ortizlocked the doors, so thatno bodycould get into the class roomfrom the
hallway. Damn said aboutOne minutelaterthe firealarmsintheschool wentoff. He said heexitedthe class roomandlooked
downthe hallwaytowardsthe library, but saidhe didnot seeanything out of the ordinaryat that time. Darraa said duringthis
time period he heard what he describedas two to three gunshots, but was unableto tell me where the gunshots sdunded like
they were comingfrom. Darran said he then exitedthe school by running out of the doors on the east side ofthe school, and
south of'the maindoors and school administrative offices. Hesaid he ran eastbound, awayfromColumbine H.S. and told me
that someseniorstudentswere stopping traffic onnorthbound andsouthbound Pierce Streetso the runningstudents get across
SouthPierceStreetand into Leawood Park. Damn saidhe ranontothe soccerfield,insideLeawood Parkwherehe remained
for approximately 10.15minutes. Darran said then someone exitedColumbine H.S. 00 the east side of the schooland shotan

exited Columbine H.S. and was shooting towards the park, however, he did not witness this.
I asked Darran if he bad seen the duffel bag or propane tankssuch as those that were later recovered in the Columbine as.
cafeteria. Darran said he did not see either Items in or around the school, nor did be see anybody carrying these items, or
similar items. Darran said he did not know of anybody. nor had he heard rumors of anybody who mav be manufacturing
explosive devices and/or possessing or selling flrearms.
I asked Damm whathe knows aboutthe Trench Coat Mafia. and TrenchCoat Mafiastudents,and specifically whathe knew
about Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris. Darran said prior to the shootingon 4-20·99, he did not know what the TrenchCoat
.vlafia was. nor did he know any of the Trench Coat Mafia studentsnames. He told me that he would see the students who
woretrench coats at Columbine B.S. playingcardsat lunchtime in the Cafeteria/Commons area ofthe school. Since 4·20·99,

would try to elaborate, Darran would tell her she was wrong and would deny what she said as being truthful. It appearedto
me that Darran Metzlerwas tryingto cover for Brooks Brown and/or Aaron Brown. Anne Gates told me in the presence of
Darran Metzler of an incident that occurred about one month prior to this interview (approximately the end of June Or the
beginning of July 1999), that upset her. She told me that AaronBrown accused Darran Metzlerof havingsome of his CD's.
Annesaid she found a carry-outtype of pizza box outside of her door, at her residence. She said there was a letter inside the
pizza box made out ofletters of the alphabetthat had been cut out of magazines that said, "We want those back,or you're
dead." Annesaid also in this pizzabox was a doll withthe headcut off it, I asked AnneGatesif shehad reported thisto lCSO,
andshe said she had not She also toid me that the pizzabox, letter, and doll etc. had all been thrown away. Anne Gates told
me that she believes Aaron Brown is responsible for this pizza boxand the contents inside being left at her residence. While
'\nne was tellingme aboutthe incident, Damn became defensiveofAaronBrown andsaid severaltimesthat the incident was

since there had been no further incidents, she did not want meto do any further follow-up or interviews in reference to that
incident with the pizza box and contents, Anne Gates said if she changes her mind, or if they have any further problems or
incidents in the future, shewillcontactme. When Anne Gatesbrought up thenameDustinGordon to me. withDarran Metzler
present, shesaidhemaypossibly befriends withtheTTench CoatMafiastudents, DarranMetzlerquickly said,"DustinGordon
,s not a part of the Trench Coat Mafia. Again, in a defensive mannerfor this person. When I asked Darran how he would
describe Brooks Brown, he told me that Brooks Brown was not a Trench Coat Mara student. and described him as
"understanding, nice,out-going, generous, andgoodfriend," He saidBrooksBrownhas known DylanKlebold sincetheywere
both young. and were friends of each otherfor a verylongtime, Darran said he does not know of any incident whereBrooks
Brownhas been violentor threatened anybody, Darran saidhe has known AaronBrown for approximately 3 years, andhas
not seen AaronBrowndisplayanyviolenttendencies, nor has he seenAaronBrownhave a "hoi" type of temper, Darran said

when he has been present there, Darren Metzlersaid he went to the 1999 Columbine H.S. Prom and said he saw Dylan
Klebold, however he didn't know who Dylan Klebold's date was, Darran said he also went to the after Prom party at
Columbine H.S, He said he did notseeDylanKlebold, Eric Harris, or any otherTrenchCoat Mafiastudents at the after Prom

a "fetish" for knivesand apparently had some knivesthat be had collected.
I askedDarran Metzlerand AnneGates and the other members of their family havebeen doing sincethe shootingOn 4·20·99
Darran said he has beendoing well. Laterhowever.I spoke withAnne GateswithoutDamn Metzlerbeing present. She told
me that after the shootingon 4·20·99, Darran was doingwell untilhe wentbackinto Columbine as. to get his property back
that he had left inside. She said she did not go with him to the schoolwhen he did this. She said Darran had called her from
a phone,and"just lost it" she said. Shesaid Darransaidhe wasnO! preparedto see whathe had seen insideof Columbine H.S.
• advised Darran Metzler and Anne Gates to contactme if they or any other family members wanted to speak with a lCSO
VictimAdvocate in the future, and I will makethe necessary arrangements for themat thattime. Damn also told me he would
contact me in the future if he remembered any further information or learned anything further of the shootingon 4-20-99.

On 06-22-99, I was assigned Lead #4217, to interview Katie Coleen Micek" a Columbine High School student on 04-20-99, who
was assigned Mr. Bundy's fifth hour Algebra I class.
Afterseveral attempts to reach Micek, on 06-30-99, at 0820 hours, I again contactedthe listed borne phone number,303-933-
3277, and reached a femalewho identified herselfas Katie Micek. Micekexplainedthet she had been 00 vacation in Atlantic
City and thus unable to call me back. I explained to her that I wascontacting Columbine High School studentsreference the
incident at the school on 04-20-99. Sbe stated that she had been at the school 00 thet dare and had been in attendance of
Mr. Bundy's class. I told her I understood the class started at about 1115 and asked her what her first indication was that
something was wrong. Micek stated that the door was closed and Mr. Bundywas giving thema quiz. As a result, the class was
pretty silent. She stated thet about to five to seven minutes afterclass started, she was not far into the test and heard a girl
screaming. She staledthat she didn't think muchof it, as youhear weird things at school,due to things like seniorpranks. She
stated about one minute later she heard the fire alarm go off' Micek stated thet she didn't connect the two. She stated
immediately after the firealarm went off,her softball coach, Coach Ortiz, flung the dooropen and staled, "Go, go, go. Get away
from the school as far as you can." Micek srating thet knowing Coach Ortiz, she knew he was serious and they beganrushing
OUt. She stated she remembered a maleon crutches in frontofher ttying to get out and people pushinghim and feeling bad for
him. Shestaled that as she exitedthe classroom, sheturned right into the math hall. leftinto the hall and right into the main hall.
She Slated that when she was in the math hall she did not see or hear anything unusual, other than peoplepushing. She Slated

was smoke. She stated that they went out the door at the end of thehall. downthe outside stairs, across Pierce Street and to the
park. She stated the teachers continued to push them farther end farther back. Sbe stated once in the park there were some girls
whobad comefrom thecafeteriaend were crying,saying thatthete were llUYS with guns. She stated that another malewas telling
them theywere wrong and there wasn't. She said they bad been outside about ten minutes and the teachers continuedpushing
them further end furtherback. Micek stated that suddenly everyone starting running into the neighborhoods. She stated that she
didn't stop to ask why. It was one of those things where you doc'r know whet's going on, hut you just run like everyoneelse
She statedthere were rumorsat the time that someonewas on the roof, however, she did not see or hear anything else. ! asked
her if there was anything else she saw or heard outsideand she statedshe only recalled the helicoptersand that there were lor,
of helicopters.
I asked Micek if she recalled whom she was sitting with or near in class. She Stated thaI her best friend. Lauren Cartaya was
sitting behindher. She stated that Alayna Muscoline was sitting near her. bur 'he stated she was unsure where she was actually
at.
I asked Micek if she had been into or throughthe cafeteria at all on 04-2()'99, and she Slated she had not. I asked her if she knew
either Dylan Klebold or Eric Harris and she Slated she did not. 1 asked her if theywere anyone she recognized from the ball.
She stated she didn't, althoughshe recognized their group. She statedshe typically parkedat Clement Park and would walk past
the pavilion wherea group of "them" would be smoking, but she statedsbe didn't know if ~he ever actually saw them. I asked
her if there was anythingshe bad either heard or seen, eitherprior to or since the incident, which she thought might assist us.
Sbe stated there was not, She Stated she bad heard that there were other people shooting. I asked her what she had heard
specifically. She stared she had heard that there was a shooteron the roof and had also heard that there was someonewearing
a whiter-shirt, but she knewtharKleboldand Hams werenot wearing white t-shirts but wearingblack trench coats. Micekstated
that she had no further information.

H.S. cafeteria. arrivingat about 1020 hours, Kimberly said she was carrying her backpack with her and selecteda table to sit
31 in the cafeteria. Kimberly said she sat her ba<:kpack down on thefloornextto the selectedtable. Kirnberlv showed mewhat
table she sat at on 4-20-99. on the diagram I had showed her of the Columbine H.S. cafeteria. The table she selected was table
"LL" and is located' in farthest east row of tables on the east sideofthe cafeteria, and nearthe stairway that leadsup to the second
level of Columbine B.S. Kimberly said While she was seatedat the table she was facing directly east towards this stairway.
Kimberly said she got up from the table and went to the "RebelCorner"in the south/east area ofthe cafeteriato get something

for her math class. that begins at 1115 hours. Kimberly said whileshe had been in the cafeteriashe did not observeanything
unusual, nor did she observe any suspicious items. 1askedher if she had seen a duffel bag or a propane tank that was later
recovered in the cafeteria. Kimberly said she didnot see eitheritemwhile in the cafeteria.
Kimberly said after going into her math class,with the teacherbeingMs. Morvesky. she was sitting at a desk when she heard
whatshe described as "rumblingnoises" outside the classroom. but it was unknown where it was coming from, Kimberly said
the teacher got scared and went behind her desk and began to cry. Kimberly said she then beard • "bang" and then Mr. Ortiz
(another Columbine H.S. teacher) wasrunning down thehallway yelling to students and teachers to lock theirclassroom doors.
Kimberly said someone locked her classroom door,but she didnot know who. Kimberly said all the students in her classroom
gotunderneath their desks. She saidshe then beard Mr. Havens, (another Columbine H.S, teacher) run down the hallway, look
into the classroom she was in, through the glassin the door, andyelled, "everybody out." Kimberly said all the students in her
classroom, ranout of the classroom andexiledthe school through the south/east doOTS that face east towardsSouthPierce Street
Kimberly said she ran across South Pierce Streetand into Leawood Park. Kimberly said while she was in Leawood Park she
heard "two big explosions" coming from Columbine H.S. Kimberly said she lookedtoward ColumbineH.S., but she did not
seeanybody insidethe windows, nor did she see anybody outside of the school. She said she went 10 a friend ofber's house by
thename of Eric Long, and thenwent10 anothermend's house by the nameof ChadCrandall, who lives on South Fenton Street.

Kimberly Mohrbachercould not providemuch infermatien aboutthe trench coat mafia students, other than to say they were a
group of kids, estimated to he 5-7 in number, that would gather and bang around. under the stairway area of the cafeteria.
Kimberly advised she did not see any of the "jocks" harass the trench coat mafia students. She said she did not see the trench
coat mafia students harass any of the other students either.
KimberlyMohrbachertold me thar a friend of her's by the nameof ShannonZele knew Brooks Brown. Kimberlysaid she was
at a Village Inn about one and a half monthsprior to the shooting with several other people, and said Brooks Brown was their
waiter. She said Shannon Zele asked Brooks Bro....'11 if he remembered her and he said he did. Kimberly said what she
remembered about Brooks Brown was that he seemed "slow" to do anything. She said he was slow to serve the people at their
table, and seemed slow in speaking. I latercheckedwith the FBI RapidStart operators andwas told that ShannonZele had been
interviewed already by law enforcement, Kimberly Mohrbacher saidshe does not know of anybody. nor has she heardany rumor
of anyone manufacturing explosivedevices, and/or possessing firearms. She also said she doesn't know anyone with a double
pierced eyebrow.
Kimberly Mohrbachersaid on 4-20-99 she heard the "thoughtof the day" on the Rebel News Network (RNN). She told me that
on 4-20-99, between 0835 and 0840 hours, she saw the thought of the day to he "04120 you'd rather not be here today."

KimberlyMohrbachertold me that a friend of her's by the nameofKrista Fogarty had a gym class last semester at Columbine
H.S. with one of the suspects, either Dylan Klebold or Eric Hartis. she did not know which one.
Kimberly said on 4-20-99, when she went to her lockerprior to going to the cafeteria,she did not notice anything unusual at the

On 07·02-99, at about 1130 hours, I contacted witness Alma H. Moore, whois a reacher at Columbine High School. by telephone,
Thereason I contacted Alma Moore was in reference to !heshooting that occurred at Columbine High School On 04-20-99
AlmaMoore saidon 04-20-99, she was at Columbine High School to teach her classes which is her routine as a Columbine High
School teacher, Almasaid that at about 1115 hours on matdate, a classmat she teaches with anotherColumbine HighSchool
teacher, Mr. Ortiz, began, This is a Geometry class, The classroom is located on the upper level of the school. AlmasaidJust
as thisclassbegan, she had some students up in front of the classroom, at the chalkboard, Almasaid she Was also at thefront
of the classand Mr. Ortizwas at the tear of this class. Alma saidthe door from the interior of this classroom into the ballway
is always kept closedso the noiseof the students in the hallway during this lunch perioddoes not disturbthe class, Almasaid
forsome reason on 04-20-99, thisdoor wasnot shutand had beenleftopen. Alma saidsuddenly sheheard"a rushof noise" from
outside of her classroom, She said Mr. Ortiz and she looked at eachother, and then Mr. Ortizwent out into the hallway to see
what was occurring, Alma said while Mr. Ortiz was out of the classroom, and out of her sight, she heard two gunshots and
thought theycame from just outside of the Mathdepartment, which she saidis "U-shaped" with her classroom being at tbebottom
of the U, Almasaid she believed at that timethat these gunshots had been directed towardMr. Ortiz and believed that he had

saidshe was trying to keep calm. So her studentswould also keep calm. Alma said she had heard gunshots. however, she said
she did not tell any ofher students that they were gunshots in hopesof keepingthem from panicking. Alma said just as she was
lockingthe classroom doors with her keys, Mr. Ortiz came running back into the classroom and said. "Get them out of here."
Almasaidher first reaction was to protect the children and therefore, she was not sure if gettingthe childrenout of the classroom
was a good or a bad idea. Alma said she felt they mightbe safer lookedin the classroom. Alma said there were more gunshots
and after hearing some type ora commotion, her students got up andran out of the classroom and into the Math hall. Almasaid
the students then ran to the east doors of the school that are located south of the main doors by the administrative offices of
Columbine High School. Alma said she stood In the east hallway of the Math department and watched the students exit the
school, to be sure they got out safely, Alma said il was about this time that the fire alarm at Columbine High School went off.
Alma said after the students got out of the school,she exitedColumbine High School also through the same door and ran to the
fence outsideof Columbine High School. Almasaid during this time, she heard numerous gunshotsand approximately five to
.ix bombs detonate from the area of Columbine High School. Alma said she then ran across South Pierce Street and into
Leawood Park, where numerous students were located. Almaestimated she was In Leawood Park for approximatelyforty to
forty-five minutes. During this time frame that she was in Leawood Park, Alma said she did not hear any gunshots directed
towardLeawood Park. Alma said that somebody, possiblya law enforcement officer, said gunshots had been directed toward
Leawood Park, so Alma said she went into the Long residence, which backs up to Leawood Park.
Almasaid duringthe incident at ColumbineHigh Schoolon 04-2()'99,and since the shooting,her concern has been the welfare
of the ColumbineHigh School students, both physically and emotionally. It was readily apparentthat Alma was and is worried
about these students and their well being, and bowthe incident is affectingtheir lives.
I asked Alma Moore what she knew about the Trench Coat Mafia, the Trench Coat Mafia students and in particular Dylan
Klebold and Eric Harris. Alma said prior to the shootingon 04-20-99, she was not aware that any Trench Coat Mafia existed.
Alma said In fact, on 04.20·99, while she was watching television about the shooting that had occurred at Columbine High
School, she heardsomethingabout the TrenchCoatMafiabeinginvolved and said she thoughtto herself, "What are they talking
about?"

herself, "That is strange. Smdents at Columbine HighSchool do not dress like that" She said the male she now believes was
DylanKlebold was wearing a trenchcoat,however, she couldnot recall what the description of the otherclothinghe may have
beenwearing at the timewas. Alma said shesaid hello to this Trench Coat Mafia student, but to the bestof her knowledge. the
student did not respond back to her.

MORRIS described being in Math class on the second floor of the school the day of
the shooting. At about 11;3Oam they heard what sounded like footsteps, or something
landing on the roof above them. He said the sound was more consistent with footsteps as
they were in a cadence at a trot to running pace. Approximately ;45 to :60 seconds after
this they saw students running in the hallwayoutside their classroom. He describedthey
appeared to be running away, fleeing somethingrather than pursuing something.
MORRIS added that at about the same time they could hear explosions and gunshots
corning from the adjacent Science classroom area.
MORRIS added that his friend, "Matt Dendorfer'' saw the bullets being fired. He was
unaware of whether Dendorferhad seen the personts) shooting the firearms, but that he
had told him of having seen ricocheting bullets. MORRISsaid there were numerous
students in the math class at the time, as well as the teacher Ms. MORRISEY (sp"),
MORRISsaid he knew one of the persons said to have been the "shooters." He said
he knew KLEBOLD only as an acquaintanceas they were in a gym class together.

South Hudson Circle, Littleton, Colorado 80122, telephone number
(303) 741-4555, was telephonically interviewed. After being
advised of the identity of the interviewing Agent and the nature
of the interview, Morrissey furnished the following information:
Morrissey is a Math Teacher at Columbine High School.
Her fifth period class is Geometry which is taught in room MAL11.
This classroom is located in the corner of the math section of
the school. On April 20, 1999, approximately five to ten minutes
into class she felt the floor shaking. The shaking was caused by
students running down the Math/Science hallway, Morrissey heard
one gunshot in an area that would have been at the west end of
the Math/Science hallway. This gunshot occurred before the fire
alarm came on. Morrissey told everyone in her class to get under
their desks. The door was closed. The door automatically locks.
Another teacher, Mr. Havens, told Morrissey and her class to get
out of the school. Morrissey's class exited the school out the
doors on the east end of the Math/Science hallway. Her
classrooms door is located next to the Math/Science hallway and
is the closest math room to the exit. Her class exited the
school and went across the street into Leawood Park,
Morrissey had 23 students in her class on April 20,
1999. Two students were at home and one had been sent to the
office and was being suspended. Jordan Grimm was in the school
office with Peter Horvath, the dean of students.
No student in Morrissey's classroom saw any of the
gunmen and only heard one gunshot, Morrissey does not recall
hearing any noises above her classroom on the roof. When the
Columbine students returned to school at Chatfield High School,
Morrissey talked with her fifth period class about what happened.
She told the class exactly what she remembers and asked them if
they remembered anything different. No students within the class
indicated to her that they had seen anything different than
Morrissey. Morrissey purposely went over what she remembers
happening because she thought some of her students may have been
exaggerating what they saw and heard.

Sharon Morrissey
Morrissey had her class write down on paper whatever
they wanted to about what happened at the high school. Morrissey
is close in age to a lot of the students and they tend to open up
to her. Two female freshman students in particular wrote that
they were both friends of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. They
wrote very fondly of Harris and Klebold, and Morrissey considered
the girls to have had 'a freshman crush on two seniors." The
students were Marla Foust and Katherine 'Katie" Thompson.
Morrissey again reiterated that neither she nor any of
her students in the classroom witnessed any gunmen.

the listed homephone numberfor Most, 303·978-0228 and leftmessages. I told Mostthat I was contacting Columbine High
School students reference the incidentat the school on Q4.20·99. Most stated thatshe had been at the school on that dayandhad
been in anendaace of Mr. Bundy's class. [told her that myunderstanding was thatclassstarted at about 1115. Moststated that
Mr. Bundy gave them a quizand aboutfive minutesafter classstarted she heardthe fire alarm. Most stated that a few seconds

On 6-22-99, I wasassigned lead #4224 to interview Alayna Muscolino, a Columbine High Schoo! studenton 4-20-99, whohad
fifth hour Algebra I class with ML Bundy,
lin 6-22-99, at 1452 hours. J comacted the listed homephone number for Muscolino, (303) 978-1140. J spoke with a female
whoidentified herselfas Alayna Muscolino, I told her that I was contacting ColumbineHigh Schoolstudentsand asked her if
she was at the school on 4-20-99. Muscolino stared that she was. I told her I understood she had Mr. Bundy's fifth period
Algebra I classand asked her if she had attended class. She stared that she did. I told her that I understood the class started at
1115 andasked her what the firstthing following thatwaswhich gaveher some indication that something was wrong. Muscolino
Slated thatshehearda bomb and hearda girl scream. I asked her howshe knew it wasa bomb,and she stated that she felt thmgs

I asked her if she knew either Dylan Kleboid or Eric Harris, and she stated she did not. She classified herself as a "jock" and
stated that shedidn't hangoutwith "people like that," I askedher if theywere people she recognized, and she statedshe did. She
stated that Kiebold came into Jerry's Coffee, where she works, ar Belleview and Kipling. She statedthat he would come into the
coffee shopwith another unknownfriend, who doesnot attend Columbine High School, and play the game Magic. I asked her
If she had seen eitherHarris or Kleboldon 4-20-99, and she stated she did not. I asked her if she would have noticed. while she

INVESTIGATION:
On 05·25·99, at about lito hours.I met with CalebNewberry at hisresidence. Newberry is a sophomore at Columbine High
School. I asked Newberry to tell me of his activities on 04-20-99.
Newberry statedhe drovehis car to school and parkedin theClement Parkparking lot, whichisalong South Pierce Street. He
arrivedjust before his first periodclass at 0730 hours. This first period was Language Arts withMs. Haggett. Secondperiod
wasHistory withMr.Digiosio. Newberry did not recall anyof theannouncements whichwereairedduringthat second period.
Thirdperiodhehad Spanish with Mrs.Birch-Sterling. Fourth period was gymwithMr.Place. Fifthperiodwas math withMe.
Higgins. Newberry described that his day had been normal from thebeginning up until fifthperiod.
I askedNewberry whathis priorcontacts werewithsuspects DylanKlebold andEricHarris. Newberry statedthatKlebold was

in his gymclass lastsemester. Also. last semester theyplayedflagfootball duringgym. Newberry statedthat Klebold would
havean attitude if Newberry did not throwhim the ball whenhe was open. Klebold seemed to dislikejocks.
Newberry stated that he wouldseeHarris in the ballsat school, but did not knowhis name. Hethought he was kind of weird
but did not associate him with Klebold, Newberry statedthat Harris appeared to always be angry. Newberry stated he heard
aboutthe Trench Coat Mafia in his freshman year. Hethought it wasjust a nickname the schoolhad giventhesestudents who

Newberry stated that after fourth period, he went to the cafeteria and sat down with his friend Eric Trujillo. I showed him a
map of the cafeteria and he indicatedthat the two of them sat at Table "U." They sat for about two minutes. While in the
cafeteria, he did not see Harris, Klebold or anyone associated with the Trench Coat Mafia. I asked him if he saw anyone
carrying anything into the cafeteria which appeared to he heavy. He statedbe did nol.
Newberry stated that in his fifth periodclass, he sits by the window, which races S. Pierce Street. He noticeda male student
namedTim Nepp running by the window. Newberry thought thatNepp had spilleda Coke or somethingall overthe front of
him. He described Nepp as wearing a gray shirt and bavinga shocked lookon his face. Nepp was looking back toward the
exit doors, whichCOme out on the east side of the building from the south mainhallway. There were some other males with
Nepp but be did not know their mimes. Newberrynoticed students running toward Leawood Park. He said the numberof
students was more than would normally he outside the school. He thennoticed a friend named Katie Beer. She was crying.
She was being comforted by a female friend, whomhe did not know, and the two went over to Leawood Park.
A female teacherNewberry identified as Ms. McMullen ran into the room and announced that everyone had to get out. The
fire alarm was going of!'at this time. The students exited the classroom and Went northdown the small ball that leadsto the
southmain hallway, Newberry statedthat his fifth period classhadstartedat l l lS hours, He believesthat the teacherran into
the classroom to tell them to leave the school, perhaps ten to tifteen minutes after class had started.
Newberry stated that the small hallways Were jammedwith students. Newberry slated tbat when he got to the south main
hallway, he decidednot to exit the school by lakingthe eastdoors,but helookedto the westand began walking westdownthe
south hallway. He stated he could see smoke at the westend of the south main hallway. Newberry continued to walkwest
towardthe smoke. He was going against a flow of students wbich were running east to exit the school.
Newberrystated that there were a few studentswest of him Which were running eastward. They were going throughthe tire

doors which hadclosedwhenthe fire alarm was activated. Newberry described the fire doors as staying open because ofthe
studentsgoingthrough them. Newberry looked towardthe endofthe westhallwayand sawa tall male, hedescribed as "a dark
figure", wearingdark clothing. He couldnot distinguish thesubject's hair coloror race. Newberrystated that the tal!suspect
was holdinga gun. He describedit as possibly being a short shotgun. Hecouldnot tell which hand the suspectwas hold the
gut! in. As Newberry turned to his right, he saw out of the comerofbis left eye, a muzzleflash. A teachernamed Mr. Ortiz
was comingthrough the fire doors and pushed Newberry toward the east, telling him 10 run. All unknownfemale student was
running past Newberry when she was shot in the lowerportion of one of her legs. Newberrycould not recall which leg was
shot. Newberry lookedat her leg and saw that there were multiple wounds and describedthemas "BB gun size." Newberry
turned 10 the east and began running out the east doors of the sooth main hallway. Once he exited those doors, he wenlto
Leawood Park.
At Leawood Park, Newberry slated he could hear "booms"coming from the west side ofthe school. He stated he sal in the
park for ten 10 fifteen minutes before Coach Moore yelled to everyone in the park to "run." The students ran to the east of the
park. Newberry was not sure whythey wererunning. He told me that later he heard rumors that therewasa shooter perhaps
on the roof.
Newberry staled that while he was in the south hallwayhe saw onlyone muzzle flash. He heard anotherround whizpast his
bead Newberry stated that his backpack is in math room number four. Inside his backpack is a cell phone and a Tl-86
calculator. His locker is on the west side of the fire doors on the northhallway.

Jaimi Norden said on 04-20-99, she went to her fifth hour Geometry class on the upper level of Columbine High School at
approximately 1110 to 1120hours. Jaimisaid sne wasInthis classroom forapproximately ten minutes when she heardwhatshe
described to be three gunshots. Jaimi said although she couldnot tell where these gunshotsoriginated, she said they were from
the Inside of the high school and said theysoundedto her like they wereclose to her classroom. Jaimisaid she then heardpeople
screaming Inthe hallways outside of her classroom. then oneof her teachersby the name of Mr. Ortiz, exited the classroom into
the hallway to see what was taking place. She said whileMr. Ortizwas gone from the classroom.her other teacher by the name
ofMs. Moore, remained in the classroom withthe students and locked the door so nobody could get insideof the classroom from
the hallways. Jaimi said Mr. Ortiz was gone for abouttwominutesand while he WaS gone, Jaimi said she heard moregunshots.
however,she did not know how many. Jaimi said Mr. Ortiz thenran backinto the classroom just as Ms. Moore was locking the
doors. Jaimisaid Mr. Ortiz said that there wassomeonethat had a gun, and told everybody in the classroom to get down on the
floor. Jaimi said the students got down on the floor and remainedthere for approximately 10 seconds and then \>1r Ortiz told
themall to run from the school. Jaimisaid the students fromher classroom got up and ran out of the classroom into the hallway
She said they then ran out of the school, through the doors, located on the east side of the school that are south of the school's
maindoorsand Columbine High School administrative offices. Jaimi said she ran east bound from the high school, across South
Pierce Streetand into Leawood Park. Jaimi said she was in Leawood Park for approximately thirty to forty-five minutes. and
while in Leawood Park, she said she heard three to four explosions. Jaimi said she knows that these explosions came from
Columbine High School. however, couldnot be any morespecific on an exact locationthat thesebombs weredetonated. Jaimi
said when she heard the explosions, she looked towardColumbine High School and said she saw students running out of the
school, bursaid she did not see anybodywith a firearm at explosivedevice. Jaimi said she also did nor see any of the Trench
Coat Mafiastudents outside of the school. I asked Jaimi if she could see into the school through the windows and/or the glass
in the doors She said no, she couldn't. Jaimi said there were Columbine High Schoolteachers at Leawood Park. She
remembered one of the teachers was Coach Moore, who was standing at about the northwestcomer of LeawoodPark{which is
SOUlh Pierce Street and West Fair Drivel Jairnisaid suddenly the teachersbegan to run east bound away from Leawood Park
and into the surroundingresidential areas. She said whenshe saw the teachers run. she ran away from LeawoodPark as well.
