Narrative: On 04/20199 at approximately 1500 hours I was dispatched to Columbine High Schobl to deliver
fresh radio batteries that I had remeved from various sergeants' radios at the station. I arrived at 1506
hours and distributed the batteries to various perimeter units. At that time I relieved Sergeant Nate Miller
who was on scene from the original Watch I response to the call. Sergeant Heffner was also on scene.
Our responsibilities included maintaining a perimeter north and west of the school in Clement Park.

Shortly after 1900 hours, I was contacted by Agent Toby Maez who had been given a letter by a citizen
named Robert Wallaoe. Mr. Wallace said he found a seaied lelter near 7605 W. Colfax Ave and after
reading its contents called LPD. Agent Maez felt it might be relevant to the investigation at the scncol. I
instructed him to book the original (preserved for prints) into our property unit and to have someone
transport a copy to me at Clement Park. A second copy was provided by me to John Klckbush at Clement
Park.

Upon examining the letter is was found to be addressed to:

The first page of the letter is dated "Monday 4/19". The letter seems to be a travelog at the beginning but
on the bottom of page three the writer mentions "Liberel Girl" saying she is from Mount Vernon, N.Y. and is
a 10" grader. The letter says Ihat 'She's leading a meeting here about school shootings, and leading the
Peace Activation Group going to Columbine High School." The letter goes on to mention that "We might
get some national broadcasting out of this, which is great". Later, the write says that 'Liberal girl was quite
Impressive. I told her she'll definitely get on national TV. Then she started talking repeatedly about people
being made aware." 'Made aware of what exactly?' "Of school shootings'. The writer had knowledge that
'these kids had bullet-proof body armor and uzi semi-automalic weapons and it was theIr parents!" The
leller is signed "I love you, Alex".

A' <>oproximately 2200 hours on 4120/99 I responded to Leawood Elementary Scl100l at the request of the
J a S,O. i contacted Lt. John Dunow and Dep. Warren (J.L. Warren?). Information was related to me
that had been obtained from an interview with an associate of the two deceased suspects. . According to
the individual being interviewed, several other SUbjects were involved with the planning and execution of
the shootings at Columbine High School. He further related that the group had planned on committing
similar shootings on 4121 at Bear Creek High School and Chatfield High School. During my eenversations
with Dunow and Warren I mentioned the letter that had been found and I asked them to question their

informant about its contents. Deputy Warren returned a short while later and stated that the subject had
seen it before. I am not certain at this point if he meant the subject had seen the aclualletter or just the
various phrases with,n the letter. The informant had pointed out poems. a quote from WW and n.
terminology used in a movie entitled '6 Things To Do in Denver When You're Dead". According to Deputy
Warren, the informant indicated to him that Alex was a student and that Erio Harris or one other subject in
the group, whose name I do not recall, had 'helped' her write the leiter.

Warren went on to say that 'Liberal Girl" referred to in the letter was Alex according to the informant. As
mentioned earlier, the letter referred to liberal girl being on national TV. In the press coverage of the
shootings by the Rocky Mountain News, they interviewed a female student named Alejandra •Alex" Marsh
who is 16 years of age, which would be consistent with 'liberal girl" being referred to in the letter as a 10'"
grader The article is en pages 16A-18A of the 4/21/99 issue. Marsh is quoted as saying she saw
someone she knew with a shotgun and that he was more than capable of doing this. She is further quoted
as saying 'He had spoken of doing something like this, but in an almost jesting kind of waY'. I have also
seen this Alex Marsh on television segments aired by the media. All of this may be consistent with the
'national broadcasting" referred to in the letter and the mentioning of liberal girl being on TV.

0,. .122199 I checked with directory assistance and found that the return address an the letter is a varia
address listed to Alexis Bhagat with a telephone number of 1-518-427-7249. On cheoking for a Bree
Edwards, to wham the letter was addressed, directory assistance found only one S. Edwards listed in
Albany. That person was listed at 243 Elm Sl with a telephone number of 1-518-434-4808. I have made
no attempt to call these numbers or otherwise contact the residents.

(There is the possibility that this letter may have been written over a two day period, as there is a line
across page 3 about 3/4 of the way down. That may account for some cf the knowledge of body armor and
uzi's mentioned in the narratlve.)

HOSPITAL AT APPROX 1300 ERS AND MET DETECTIVE GREENWELL THERE.

AN APPARENT GUNSHOT WOL~ TO HIS LEFT KNEE, SEE REPORT BY DETECTIVE MCGLYNN

AT APPROX 1440 HRS VICTIM JOYCE JANKOWSKI ARRIVED AT THE HOSPITAL.
V-JANKOWSKI IS A TEACHER AT COLUMBINE HIGH SCHOOL. JANKOWSKI HAD AN INJURY
TO HER LEFT KNEE AND ABRASIONS TO HER BACK AFTER SHE FELL FROM THE CEILING
IN THE TEACHER'S LOUNGE.
V-JANKOWSKI PROVIDED TF~ FOLLOWING INFORMATION. JANKOWSKI INDICATED THAT
SHE FIRST BECAME AWARE OF A PROBLEM WHEN SHE WAS NOTIFIED OF SOME TYPE OF
COMMOTION AND LOOKED OUT THE ONLY WINDOW IN THE LOUNGE. THE WI~~OW FACES
THE WEST. JANKOWSKI INDICATED THAT SHE OBSERVED TWO DOWNED STUDENTS. SHE
THEN HEARD SEVERAL PCPS, LATER DETERMINED TO BE GUNSHOTS, AND SCREAMS FROM
TP~ AREA OF THE WEST DOORS. JANKOWSKI STATED THAT SHE HEARD SEVERAL
GUNSHOTS AND SCREAMS FROM THE CAFETERIA. SHE STATED THAT SHE HID IN THE
FACULTY ROOM BATHROOM WITH THREE OTHER ADULTS AND THREE STUDENTS. THEY
LOCKED THE DOOR AND TURNED OUT THE LIGHTS.
JANKOWSKI DESCRIBED HEARING SEVERAL LOUD BANGS, LATER DETERMINED TO BE
EXPLOSIONS, AND SEVERAL MORE GUNSHOTS. THERE WAS ONE VERY LOUD EXPLOSION
AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. SHE STATED THAT SHE COULD SMELL NATURAL GAS.
V-JANKOWSKI STATED THAT THEY COULD HEAR "METAL" BEING MOVED AROUND IN THE
CAFETERIA, BUT THAT THEY COULDN'T H~ ANY SCREAMING ANYMORE. V-J&~KOWSKI
DESCRIBED HEARING VOICES OF MORE ~~ ONE PERSON Ou~SIDE THE LOUNGE. SHE
STATED THAT THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE POLICE, BECAUSE THE VOICES SPOKE IN A
CONTROLLED TONE WITH LITTLE EMOTION. JANKOWSKI STATED THAT THEY REALIZED IT
WASN'T THE POLICE WHEN THEY LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND SAW T¥~ POLICE FAR
AWAY ON THE PERIMETER.
JANKOWSKI STATED THAT THEY KEpT HEARING SPORADIC EXPLOSIONS FROM WITHIN T.~E
SCHOOL. SHE STATED THEY TRIED TO USE A PHONE IN THE FACULTY LOUNGE, BUT
THAT IT WASN'T WORKING. JANKOWSKI STATED THAT SHE AND ANOTHER STUDENT,
SEAN NAUSMAN, CLIMBED UP INTO THE FALSE CEILING FROM THE BATHROOM.
JANKOWSKI FELL THROUGH THE CEILING INTO THE LOUNGE AND INJURED HERSELF. SHE
STATED T.~T THEY EVENTUALLY LEFT THE SCHOOL WHEN THEY FELT THEY WERE SAFE
TO DO SO. JANKOWSKI STATED THAT SHE ~~VER OBSERVED THE GUNMEN. ,
JANKOWSKI WAS VERY EMOTIONAL AND DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW, AT TIMES. A SECOND
INTERVIEW, IF NEEDED, IS RECOMMENDED. JANKOWSKI'S INJURIES WERE

INVESTIGATION:
On 04·20·99, Detective Hal Shucard and I were responding to the area of Columbine High SChooL We
were requested by Sgt. Miller to respond to Swedish Hospital and interview victims of the shooting that had
occurredat the sehcot. Prior to our arrival at Swedish Hospital, we were divertedto Littleton Hospital, We arrived
there at 1300 hours and wens advised that thnse victims were currentlyin the emergency room,
Detective Greenwell was alnsady on scene and was Interviewing one of the victims, Stephanie Munson, -
Detective Shucard and I were directed to one of the emergency room care lI!1ils where we met with Danlel-
Steepieton, DaB: 01·3()"82. We observedthat Steepleton's clothing had already been cut off of him and that he
suffered an injury on his left knee, Daniel Steepleton Is a junior at ColumbineHigh School.
Daniel Steepleton told us that he had beenInthe libraryat Columbine High Schoolwhen he heard several
loud bangs, He saidthat a teacherthen came running into the libraryyelling, "they have guns", Steepleton said
that he then heard more shots, He saidthat all of the studentseithertried to run or hid under tables. He saidthat
suspects then came into the library. They demanded that kids with while ball caps stand up. He said that he
was then shot in the knee and fell to the ground. After he !ell to the ground, he heard the students throwing,
"bombs at people". He said that he heard someone yell "get our' and he got up and ran out of the library.
Steepleton said that he knew the people involved, not by name, but by a gang they are assoetated with
known as the "Trench coat Mafia". He said that one of the students the! was shootingwas Dylan. He described
the two suspectsaswearing longtrenchcoats, With baseball capson backwards. Hesaidthat he thought one had
long hair, He said he believed he was shot from about a distance of 15 It. and that he was shot with silolglln,
As Steepleton was taking cover In the library, he heard one of the suspects yell as they came in, "this is
for the lour years of bull shit we had to put up with". He said then one of them yelled, "everyone with a while hal
stand up". He said that they were both shooting at people Inthe libraryand couldn't identify the person that shot
at him, but he thought it was Dylan.
Steepleton said that after he was shot, he had gone down and was laying down with his head down and
he heardone of the suspects yell, "stand up nigger boy". Steepleton again said that he didn't look up to see what
was going on but then heard a gun shot. He then heard one of the suspectssay, "I alwayswanted to do this" and
then he heard them mention something about a knife. He didn't look up to see what was going on. He said that

throughout the course of the time in the library, he heard the suspects yelling, "die...get on the 1I00r".
Steepleton said that the weapona that he saw included a shotgun, some type of automatic Of semi-
automatic machine pistol, hand-made bombs that hada fuseand ducl< tapethat needed to be lit before they were
thrown at people, and both suspects were carrying backpacks, which he believed they were getting the bombs
from. Daniel Steepleton's clothing was seized bythe Lakewood Police Department. The injury to his knee turned
out to be a Shotgun blastandthree pellets wereremoved during surgery andturned overto the Arapahoe County
Crlminallstlcs unit. No photoswere taken of Mr. Steepleton because he was transported to surgery priorto the
arrival of Arapahoe County Criminalislics.
Other students andfaculty thatwereon scene atthe hospital wereidentified as Jennifer Doyle, Nick Foss,
Steven Eubanks, Mal<ai Hall, Stephanie Munson, and Joyce Jankowski. Jennifer Doyleand Stephanie Munson
wereintelViewed byDetective MikeGreewell. Makai Hal and Joyce Jankowski wereinterviewed by Oetective Hal
Shucard. The other victims were interviewed by representatives of Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department
hing recovered by the Lakewood Police Department and booked, came from Jennifer Doyle, Daniel
Steepleton, Makai Hal, and Stephanie Munson. See Detectives Greenwell's and Shucard's reports for further

On 0412119~ at approximately 0545 hours I was placed in a temporary stand by mode until it
was determined exactlyWhat procedures would be followed once the crime scene was completely
cleared of explosive devices. While waiting I assisted other investigators with obtaining license
numbers. VINs and descriptions of vehicles in the northeast parking lot. All these vehicles were
given a cursory search for explosive devices, any vehioles of a suspicious nature or which contained
items which could contain an explosive devicewere marked for later examination by bomb scene
technicians.
Later in the day I was instructed to stage with a crew of detectives led by West Metro Drug
Task Force Sergeant Ray Borris. Our assignment was the perimeter of the school Which was
examined for shell casings, bulletfragments, bomb debris etc. When a piece of evidence was
located it was marked with a flag and the search continued. Areas covered in this search included
the teachers parking lot, the area west of that lot circling around to the south to the area taped off
and being handled by the FBI. This area WQuld be immediately west of a set of double doors which
itained considerable gunfire and bomb debris. Also included In this search was the grassy area
immediately to the south and southeast of the school to inclUde the parking lot immediately to the
south of the school circling around to the southwest. License numbers, VINs and descriptions of all
the vehicles in the parking lot were obtained. Also noted were any vehicles which sustained any type
of prOjectile damage. The vehicle lists were given to Sgt. Borris
At approximately 1705 hoursSgt. Ray Borris instructed me to assist a construction crew from
Martinson Construction Company with boarding up windows in the library and cafeteria and the
entrance to the west side of the building. Mcrttnscn Construction is located a 1875 Lawrence St ,
Denver, CO. 303-295-2511. On scene from Mortinson Construction were the following personnel:

VICTIMS: The following victims were either at SI. Anthony's Hospital or were brought to SI.
Anthony's Hospital during the time frame I was there.

1. Michael Johnson, 05/19/63

Victim Johnson suffered from a gunshot wound in the upper left thigh. The wound had
both an entrance and exit. A second gunshot wound or shrapnel injury in the left neck, the
wound had an entrance although it's exit was not Clearly visible at the time of his brief
examination. Johnson also suffered shrapnel wounds in the face and neck and a third
gunshot wound which also had an entrance and an exit in the right upper arm The mitial
examining physician was Dr. William Tripp, the surgeon treating Johnson was Dr Craig
Selzman. Dr, Selzman indicated the more "minor" injuries were cleaned and were given
;
temporary stabilization treatment. the main wound in the upper left thigh "blew our' tus femoral
artery and femoral vein. Both these injuries were repaired. At this point in time speculation by
Dr. Selzrnan concerning the condition of the nerve damage to the upper left leg was
inconclusive.

2. Kacey Ruegsegger, 03129/82

Injuries included a gunshot wound to the upper light shoulder above the collar bone
with both and entrance and an exit. The exit appeared to be considerably lower than the
entrance and may have caused considerable damage in the shoulder area. A second
gunshot wound was observed in the ball of the light hand at the base of the thumb traversmq
through the thumb and out the back of the thumb slightly above the wrist joint I was able to
obtain a statement from Ms. Ruefisegger while at St. Anthony's Hospital. See narrative
portion of this report for additional details.

Victim Ireland suffered a gunshot wound to the head, was conscious at the time of rus
arrival at SI. Anthony's Hospital Victim Ireland was able to give a statement to Denver Police
Department Detective Joel Humphries, see his report fa, complete cetaus.

NARRATIVE:
On 04/20/99 at approximately 1410 hours I monitored radio traffic concerning a shooting
situation which had occurred at Columbine High School in south Jefferson County. At the time I was
traveling west bound on the 6'" Avenue freeway from Denver. Radio traffic indicated victims from the
shooting were being brought to area hospitals, I determined that I would go to 51. Anthony's Hospital
? see if I could be of any assistance. On scene at 1420 hours I contacted Detective Jim Nelson and
Detective Susan Gaetano, from the Arvada Police Department They informed me they hadjust
arrived and that there were already three victims on scene and other victims were reported to be en
route to St. Anthony's from the scene of the shooting. It was determined that the best course of
action was for each of us to assume investigative duties for one of the victims on scene, 1interviewed
victim Kacey Ruegsegger.
I observed that Kacey had suffered a gunshot wound in the right shoulder above the collar
bone which appeared to be an "in and out' injury. I also observed a second gunshotwound in her
right hand at the base of the thumb, which was also an "in and out' injury. At the time of the
interview Kaceywas in a trauma room adjacentto the emergency room on a gurney, she was
receiving oxygen and had received two separate injections of morphinefor pain, Shewas crying and
semi-hysterical during this time. I asked Kacey if she could tell me what had happened to her. She
said that she was in the library when she heard gun shots, She did not know exactlywhat the noise
was. Severalmoments later the librarian cama running in and told them that someone had a gun

and that they sh0t.:1d get under the tables. Kacey said she got under a small table and pulled a chair
in front of her. Kacey indicated that two gunmen were present in the library. however, she mdlcaled
that from her vantage point she could only see the legs of one gunman She could not describe any
of the clothing other than the gunman was wearing a black trench coat. I asked her how she knew
there were two gunman if she only see one. She said she could hear them yelling back and forth
between them. She also indicated she heard explosions that were going off in the room at the time.
Kacey indicated she was aware that the gunmen were walking around the library shooting other
persons at random. She heard bits and pieces of conversations that were taking place between the
two gunmen and between the gunmen and their victims. When I asked her to describe what she
heard she indicated she heard one of the gunmen yell to the other, 'Hey, I've got a niger boy over
here, come on over." Then she heard the first gunman say again. 'Hey niger boy you're dead". or
words to that effect, and then she heard gun shots. Kacey said she knew the gunman had "shot the
kid next to me' but she did not know who that victim was. She indicated that her position under the
"ble was one where she was on her knees with the chair in front of her with her hands over her ears
with her arms close against her chest. When a gunman appeared in front of her she began to
scream for the gunman not to shoot her. The gunman jerked the chair away and from about five feet
yelled at her "qUit your bitching" and fired at her. She indicated that she felt the first shot hit her in
the shoulder and she was not aware of the second shot to her hand. I asked Kacey how she got out
of the library. She indicated that two people who she did not know picked her up and began trying to
drag her out of the library, but at some point they began to get trampled and she was left. She did
not recall how she got out of the library. She could only remember being in a pollee car at some
point. The only person Kacey knew in the library by name was Dan Steepleton. the rest were
unknown to her.
Several minutes after taking this statement I re-entered the trauma room with Detective Susan
Gaetano, from the Arvada Police Department and we went over Kaceys statement With her aga'"
Kacey was beginning to show the effects of the morphine injections and her answers were becoming
lass clear. At that point the attempt to obtain a statement from her was discontinued. Shortly after

that she was wheeled out of ~he room en route to surgery.

It was agreed that Arvada Detective Susan Gaetano would recoverthe propertyfrom this
female victim.
Victim Michael Johnson was out of surgery by that time and I contacted Dr. Craig Selzrnan
who described Johnson's injuriesas indicated above. Clothing for victim Johnson was given to me
by Arvada Detective Jim Nelson who indicated he had received it from an unknown medical
technician while the victimwas being examined by emergency room personnel.
I left the hospital about 1630 hours and attempted to contactthe Jefferson County Sheriffs
Department Communications Section to ascertain what should be done with the bloody closed seized
from victim Johnson, they were not able to advise me due the chaotic circumstances. Following a
telephone conversation with an unknown police offrcar from the Westminster Police Department who
was at one of the command posts, I responded to the scene of the incident.
On scene at Columbine High School I was informed that I would be usedfor Crime Scene
'ivestlgation and was told to standby until further details. becameavailable and the scene was
secured. At approximately 1915 hours I was instrucled by Lt. Clarene Shelley to return to the
Lakewood Police Department to book the evidence from victim Johnson into the Lakewood Police
Evidence Unit.
At the Lakewood PoliceDepartment it was determined that the bloody clothing storage facility
was alreadyfilled. It was determined that the best course of action was to use another locker in the
parking garage. A plastic bag was placed in the bottom of the lockerto catch blood that was dripping
from the clothing at the time. The items were placed in the locker on hangers. unmarked. and the
properly reports were completed.
I responded back to Columbine High School where I stood by with other investigative
personnel until approximately 2130 hours when I was informed that, due the numerous explosrve
deviceswhich were still being located and removed, we would not be entering the buiidinq until the
morning of 04/21199. I was instructed by RandyWest of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department
to returnto the scene at 0600 on 04/21199.

ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF TliE SCHOOL, I MET UP WITH TEESE OTHER TEAM MEMBERS WHO
WERE STATIONED BEHIND AN ARMORED CAR.

I WAS THEN ASSIGNED TO PROVIDE COVER WITH MY Mp·5 SUB MACHINE GONE ON THE
BACK OF THE ARMORED CAR AS WE RESCUED A MALE STUDENT FROM THE SECOND FLOOR
SOUTH SIDE.

1 THEN ENTERED THE SCHOOL ON TliE LOWER SOL~ SIDE THROUGH TEE CAFETERIA AND
SECURED THAT AREA. I THEN ASSISTED IN SECURING A WING OF CLASSROOMS TO THE
EAST OF TliE CAFETERIA.

I THEN WENT TO THE SECOND LEVEL TO ASSIST THE DENVER SWAT TEAM THAT WAS
CLEARING THAT AREA.

I NOTICED AN ADULT MALE VICTIM IN WHAT APPEARED TO BE AN AUDIO VISUAL TYPIl

VICTIMS THAT MIGHT HAVE GOT PASSED OVER. NONE WERE FOUND.

I THEN EXITED THE BUILDING AND ASSIS'I'ED IN CHECKING CARS FOR PO'I'ENTIAL
EXPLOSIVES. A BLACK OR DARK GRAY HONDA WAS FOUND EAST OF THE FRONT DOOR
WITH WHAT APPEAR.IID TO BE EXPLOSIVES IN IT. A BLACK BMW WAS LOCATED WEST OF

SLA'I'ER, ROLL IE INSKEEP, AND SERGEANT DAN MACCASKY TO RESPOND TO THE AREA
HOSPITALS AND INTERVIEW THE INJURED.

ON 04/21/99 AT 1430 HOURS WE ~~IVED A SWEDISH HOSPITAL. THERE WERE 4

INJURED STUDENTS IN THE HOSPITAL. WE MADE CONTACT WITH THE PUBLIC
RELATIONS MANAGER FOR 'I1lE HOSPITAL.

ONE Oli' 'I1lE STUDENTS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SPEAK DUE TO BREATHING TUBES, TWO
OTHER STUDENTS REFUSED TO SPEAK INDICATING THAT TOO MANY l?OLICE OFFICERS
HAVE ALREADY INTERVIEWED THEM, THE FOUR'I1l STUDENT ALSO REFUSED TO SPEAK
DUE TO TOO MANY OFFICERS CONTACTING THEM. THE PARENTS OF THE FOiJRTH STUDENT
DID AGREE TO SPEAK TO SERGEANT MCCASKY AND DETECTIVE SLATER.

ON 04/21/99 AT 1600 HOURS I ARRIVED AT ST ANTHONYS CENTRAL HOSPITAL TO

INTERVIEW INJURED STUDENTS THERE. I RESPONDED TO 4 WEST TO CONTACT STUDENT
MAKAI HALL. I WAS GREETED BY DAN AND SUSAN HALL, MAKAI' S PARENTS.

DAN HALL TOLD ME THAT IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM,
MAKAI WAS INTERVIEWED BY DETECTIVE JAMES NELSON FROM 'I1lE ARVADA POLICE
DEPARTMENT. DAN HALL TOLD ME THAT DETECTIVE NELSON HAD ALSO SPOKE TO MAKAI
FOR A SHORT PERIOD THIS MORNING, AND SAID HE WOULD RETURN AT 1800 TO
COMPLETE HIS INTERVIEW.

DAN HALL SAID IT WAS TRAUMATIC FOR MAKAI TO TELL DETECTIVE NELSON WHAT

Theiillssion assigned to our SWAT team was to work jointlyand in cooperation with the
other SWAT teams on scene.When giventhe "ORDER" to enter Columbine High
School,we were to conduct a slow and very methodical search (in hopesof fmding any
possiblesurvivors), to addressany casualtyfirst aid needs necessary, to record the
locationof anyfatalities encountered, to record the location of all unexploded ordinance
(bombs) and exploded ordinancenot previously tagged and fina.lly to reportand engage

0420es. Al1335 hrs., WPD Del J. Hastings, #824, advisedme that Lt. DebbieGrainger,
Arvada Police Department/Jefferson County Critical IncidentTeam, was requesting our
response as members of the team, to Columbine High School to assist with the investigation
of the apparent shootings of several students.

At 1420 hra, Det. Hastings and I arrived on-scene and 'Nent to the police staging erea at
Leawood Dr., and Pierce 5t. .

At 1535 Mrs., Lt. Grainger briefed the assembied investigators and at this time, division of
labor was identified as crime scene investigation and follow-up interviewinvestigation.

Del Hastings and I were assigned to assistwith follow-up interviews.

At 1800 hrs., Lt. Jack Chism, Wheat Ridge Police Department, briefed the assembled
interviewinvestigators, advising that a partial list of Witnesses had been assembled and to
awaitfurther instructions.

Al 2145 hrs., anotherbriefing was held and interview team members advised to secure for
the day. with clime scene investigators being advised to ratum at 0600 hrs., 042199.

On Tuesday, Apnl 20, 1999. at about 1230 hrs I was paged by Lt Chism of the Wheat
Ridge Police Department Lt. Chism askedfor me to respond to Columbine High School,
6201 S. Pierce5t Lt Chism informedme that therewas a hostage situation in the school
and that several SWAT teams were on scene. Lt Chism asked me to respond to assistin
an investigatory manner.

Once on the scene I was asked to assist in the initial interviews of the students tMt were
being rescued from the school. The students were being takan from the school to a triage
area near the command pest. north of the school on Pierce st. I spoke to the following
students;

Todd Gamber

Once the school was secured by Officers. I was asked to assist the Jefferson County
Critical Incident Team with the interviewing of Officers that had discharged their weapons
while on the scene at Columbine High Schoel. In this capacity I spoke with Denver
SWAT/KS OfficerTom O'Neil.
