459 Main Street - Third Floor Medfield, MA 02052 Dear Mr. Robert C. Maguire: I am very interested in your Instructional Technology teaching position available at Medfield High School. I hold MA certification in Instructional Technology (K-12) and recently received my masters in Curriculum and Instructional Technology. Currently, I am working as a high school technology teacher in Uxbridge, where I have taught for the past eight years. I have also worked in Uxbridge as their Technology Director and Grants Director over my 14-year career in the district. In addition to teaching, I manage a successful after school enrichment program for students k-8, serve as the adviser for the high school yearbook, coordinate the Uxbridge Adult Education program and volunteer both locally and nationally for Destination Imagination. The route I have taken to the classroom is unique. Having begun my career in technology, I didnt realize my passion for teaching until I began working as the Technology Director for the Uxbridge Public Schools. I soon realized that I connect with students; I engage them in learning through mutual respect, high expectations and compassion. My role in the classroom is that of a guide, someone to ask leading questions and help students along their path to understanding. I define goals and provide the freedom, through a variety of activities, for students to connect topics to their personal experiences. I feel it is imperative for students to become creative problem solvers, who are adept at processing information, communicating and collaborating. My responsibilities as Technology Director included working with teachers to help identify, acquire, train and integration technology into their curriculum. I have continued to assist with technology-related professional development and each year teach various topics to all staff, grades k-12. This past year I was involved with a 1:1 iPad initiative at the high school level as well as writing a successful grant to acquire iPads for an elementary reading pilot. When the Technology Director position was cut, due to budget limitations, I was offered a part-time teaching, part-time grant writer position. It was an excellent opportunity that allowed me to teach technologybased courses while searching for funding to help support a wide-variety of district needs. My educational career spans 14 years, eight of those years involve direct teaching. As you can see from this letter, and my resume, I am flexible and diverse; I can offer a wide-array of expertise paired with a love for teaching and education. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my background and vision with you in person, sometime in the near future. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Karin D. Knapik
