To whom it may concern; Thank you for taking the time to consider me for a teaching position within your school division. I am a hardworking, motivated individual, who takes pride in any task I complete. I offer a unique level of experience to the classroom, as mother, educational assistant, as well as teacher. I have a strong work ethic and work well alone, as well as with others. My strengths include flexibility, compassion, and the ability to quickly build positive relationships with the children, parents, as well as colleagues I work with. I feel it is important to provide a safe and caring environment that supports learning, cultural pride, as well as one that fosters family values and learning. As a Native Education major, I developed a deep passion for FNMI culture and I am proud to bring that passion into my classrooms. It is important that both FNMI and non-FNMI students are given the opportunity to learn about the culture, and be proud of who they are. My 10 year career as an Educational Assistant, my jobs as a behavior specialist, as well as my educational experience, have provided me with many opportunities to learn about differentiation and inclusive education. I feel that this knowledge and experience would make me a perfect fit for your 2/3 classroom. Throughout my practicum experiences I was praised for my ability to build relationships and manage the classroom. I feel that my roles as a mother and assistant have helped me with this. I am a very positive person and I feel that this radiates into the classrooms I have taught in. I am reliable, dependable, and eager to learn new things, and I am looking forward to the possibility of starting my lifelong dream within this school division. Thank you in advance for your consideration, and I look forward to discussing any employment possibilities you may have for me.

Sincerely,

Verna Mabin

Objectives
My objective is to obtain a teaching position within your respected school division.

Education

University of Lethbridge October 2013| Bachelor of Art/Bachelor of Education Throughout my educational experience I successfully completed 3 practicum placements, and was awarded 2 scholarships based on my GPA. I took part in many professional development opportunities and observed as many different teachers in various grades as I could. While attending the University of Lethbridge, I also worked as an educational assistant, which provided me with another aspect of the classroom that I found to be very valuable in my teaching and classroom management. Lethbridge College April 2004| Educational Assistant Program Throughout my educational experience I successfully completed 2 practicum placements, and was hired with Holy Spirit School Division the day I graduated. I have been working as an educational assistant ever since. This experience taught me a lot about working with children with a variety of physical and mental disabilities, and led to my passion for First Nations people and culture. I feel that this certificate program made me a better teacher. I learned to differentiate curriculum because I took material the teacher was teaching and had to adapt it for the students I worked with. In addition to that the children I worked with were extremely behavioral, so I had to have many different strategies in place to ensure a safe and caring learning environment for all students.
