WhencomparingtheeventsoftheColdWartomoderndaysociety,Thereisone thatcatchestheeye.CyberbullyingversusMcCarthyism.Whatifpoliceknockedonthe doorandyouinstantlygotarrestedandsentencedtodeath,allbecauseyouwereaccused ofbeingacommunist?Youlostyourfamily,youlostyourlife,allbecausesomeonesaid youwereacommunist.ThatiscalledMcCarthyism.Therearemanyreasonswhy McCarthyismisworsethanCyberbullying.Oneis,manypeoplewerekilledanddeported becauseofMcCarthyism.Also,itwentagainsttheFirstandFifthAmendmentsofthe Constitution.Lastly,everyonehasoptionstogetawayfromcyberbullyingandcyberspace, peoplecouldntgetawayfromMcCarthyism. Firstofall,manypeoplewerekilledandsentoutforthecountrybecauseof McCarthyism.Roughly25peoplediedfromMcCarthyism,about1,000peoplewere deported,andtensofthousandsofpeoplewereaffectedbythis.Whetheritbeafamily membersentoutofthecountryoryourspousesentencedtolifeinprison.Peoplehadto worryfortheirliveseveryday.Nooneknewiftheyweregoingtogetaccusedof communism.Americalivedinterrorforafewyearsbecauseofthisanditisntfair. Secondofall,McCarthyismwentagainstthe1stand5thAmendmentsofthe Constitution.TheFirstAmendmentstatesthatallAmericanshavefreedomofreligion, establishingreligion,speech,press,andassembly.McCarthyismbasicallyignoredthat, anddidntgivepeoplethefreedomofspeechnorthefreedomofpress/assembly..etc.The fifthamendmentwasalsoignored.Thefifthamendmentprohibitstheabuseofgovernment authorityinanytypeoflegalprocedure.McCarthyismwentagainstthatbecauseSenator McCarthyandothergovernmentofficialsaccusedpeopleofcommunismandtheywere

Mylastexampleis,peoplecangetawayfromcyberbullying.Cyberbullyinghappens tomillionsofpeopleeverydaybutthereisanoption.Therearemanywaystogetaway fromcyberspace.ItisntmandatorytohaveaFacebook,Twitter,orInstagramaccount.Nor isitmandatorytorespondtowhatissaidordone.Manycyberbullyingeventshappenwhen peoplerespondtocertainthingssaidaboutthem.Also,everyonehasthefreedomof speechunlikepeopleaffectedbyMcCarthyismdid. Somemightsay,cyberbullyingisworsethanMcCarthyismbecausepeoplecommit suicide.Itistruethat8%ofpeopleattackedovertheinternetdotrytocommitsuicide.But again,justlikechoosingtohaveaccounts,suicideisachoice.Thedefinitionofsuicideis intentionallykillingoneself.Therearealsocrimesandchargesforbulliesoncyberspace thatpeoplecanpress.ItwasimpossibletogoagainstMcCarthyismbecauseitwasthe government. Inconclusion,McCarthyismisworsethancyberbullyingbecausepeoplewerekilled anddeported,itgoesagainstthefirstandfifthamendment,andpeoplecaneasilyget awayfromcyberbulliesandcyberspace.Thosearethemainreasonsastowhy McCarthyismisworsethancyberbullying,buttherearemanymore.Hopefully,something likeMcCarthyismdoesnothappeninthefutureofAmerica.
