Procedure to change NTP servers on all Avamar Nodes

Procedure: The basic steps to change the NTP server should be to shutdown the avamar software and perform an asktime. Instructions are detailed below:

1. First confirm that no backup or maintenance tasks (crons) are running. It can be checked from the command line as follows:root@avar:~/#: avmaint sessions | grep path

2. Stop the Administrator server using command : dpnctl stop

3. Run Asktime :

* Open a command shell and login to Avamar server as admin user * Load the admin OpenSSH key * Switch user to root by entering : su - root * Switch to the dpn user account by entering : su - dpn * Load the dpn OpenSSH key * Run the asktime command as : dpn@myserver:~/#:asktime * Provide your inputs to on-screen options

4. Wait and watch for time syncronisation to complete

5. Once the sync process has completed confirm the correct ntp server and date as follows have been set:-

* Run /usr/sbin/ntpq -pn root@avar:~/#: /usr/sbin/ntpq -pn

* Use mapall --all --parallel 'date' with the keys loaded. It needs all the node with the same time to a tolarance of up to 2 sec. admin@avar:/>:mapall --all --parallel 'date'
