Re mote De sktop Conne ction (RDC, also called Re mote De sktop, formerly known as Microsoft Te rminal Se rvice Clie nt , or mstsc) is the client application for Remote Desktop Services. It allows a user to remotely log in to a networked computer running the terminal services server. In this way computers can be remotely administrated, but can the RDC be used for installing Software Improvement Modules (SIMs)?

Resolution
It is not recommended to install SIMs using programs like Remote Desktop. T he problem is the complexity of registration of COM object libraries in registry and the rights of the users. It is highly advisable to install the SIMs with an account of local administrator. A SIM should be installed locally. Installing to a mapped drive can result in corruption to your product installation.
