POVA Nu demult, am citit o reflecie a lui Paul Valry care mi-a inspirat rndurile de fa. Ea sun n traducere liber cam aa : Creaia original se declaneaz n condiiile constrngerii i se degradeaz n starea de libertate! Pare negarea valorii libertilor artistului. Nu-i aa ? Doar la prima vedere ! Pentru c, dac schimbm planul de referin, arhitectura, cea care ne-a strns, pe noi toi, n atelierele acestei coli, e departe de a fi numai un exerciiu estetic. Arhitectura se valorific tocmai n limitele constrngerilor funcionale pentru ca s toarne n forme artistice nevoi i idealuri, ambiii i neliniti, materiale i tehnologii, mode i idei fixe, bugetul clientului, i, uneori, neputina noastr de a le cuprinde pe toate ! ns raiunea cu care le amestecm nu trebuie s ne fure visul de a le drui celorlali o lume mai frumoas. n schimb, libertatea total e asemeni derutei de a construi o cas n plin deert. Neavnd repere, e simpl gratuitate ! Un secol i modific de nenumrate ori compasul i arhitectura ultimilor ani st mrturie. Morala istoriei arhitecturii se poate reduce la parafraza unui citat celebru : S ne temem de profesorul unei singure idei !
COUNSEL Recently, I have read a reflection by Paul Valry which has inspired me to write this text. In a free translation, it was something like this: Original creation is triggered under conditions of coercion and degrades itself in the state of freedom! Seems like denying the value of artistic freedoms, isn't it? Only at first sight! For, if we change the reference plan, architecture (which brought us together in the studios of this school) is far from being just an aesthetic exercise. Architecture fulfills its mission inside the very limits of functional constraints, aiming to pour into art forms needs and ideals, ambitions and anxieties, materials and technologies, fashions and fixed ideas, the client's budget, and sometimes, our helplessness to include them all! But the fact that we are mixing them rationally shouldn't deprive us from the dream of offering to others a more beautiful world. By contrast, total freedom is like the confusion of having to build a house in the middle of a desert. With no landmarks, it's pure randomness. A century changes its heading for many times, and recent architecture testifies. The moral of architectural history can be reduced to the paraphrase of a famous quote: We shall fear the teacher of a single idea!

PROGRAMA ANALITIC A. Concept Activitatea de proiectare a anului 3 se desfoar n cadrul atelierului de proiectare (forma integratoare de reprezentare i concepere a viitorului obiect de arhitectur). Programa analitic pentru anul 3 urmrete un pachet de exigene conceptuale, ce se materializeaz n: nelegerea arhitecturii drept una dintre formele complexe de ART; punerea n eviden a unui echilibru ponderat ntre metodele de generare a imaginilor de arhitectur, de la forme ideale pure (cu conotaii de abordare estetic) la forme strict utilitare; nsuirea de ctre studeni a elementelor de limbaj arhitectural element, volum, spaiu exterior, form, funciune; stimularea creativitii, ca scop major. Fiecare coordonator de atelier i contureaz propria sa metod de ndrumare, care se nscrie ns ntr-o metodologie general de instruire obligatorie. B. Coninut Proiectul de arhitectur realizeaz, n cadrul unei simulri complexe, apropierea dintre o ipotez de lucru (exigene sociale, cadru urban existent sau cadru natural, structuri de rezisten, reglementri urbanistice i tehnice, materiale i texturi, culoare etc.) i logica unui sistem compoziional ales de ctre autor. Tematica disciplinei Proiectare : ARHITECTURA MEDIULUI NCONJURTOR, LOCUINA I ORAUL. Titlurile proiectelor: Cultur, Turism, Locuire colectiv. Schia de schi Tematica i titlurile schielor: Turism (pavilion pentru ceai), Cultur (afi, spaiu pentru evenimente artistice etc.), Locuina (locuin de vacan la mare, mobilare pentru un spaiu de locuit etc.). C. Obiective generale definirea volumului elementelor constitutive ale unei construcii de arhitectur; punerea n eviden a relaiei dintre volume, ritm, scar i luminozitate; rolul structurii de rezisten n definirea configuraiei spaiale din calculul funciunii (locuire, agrement etc.); legtura indisolubil dintre expresie i stil; nsuirea progresiv a gramaticii de exprimare n cadrul discursului arhitectural; formarea gndirii proiective; nsuirea unor reguli de compoziie, de combinare a formelor (alturare, articulare, segmentare, deformare etc.); familiarizarea cu principiile arhitecturii ecologice, sustenabile. D. Metodologie Forma de predare : Prelegeri i susineri n fiecare sptmn, n prima edin de atelier; nsuirea unui material documentar obligatoriu; Dobndirea capacitilor de reprezentare, prin exerciii de desen, grafic, culoare sau machete i simulare pe calculator; Prezentarea unei mape de studiu individual; Susinerea liber a lucrrii propuse de ctre student, ce se constituie ntr-o iniiere n critica de arhitectur; Dezvoltarea posibilitilor de explicare teoretic de ctre studeni a soluiilor arhitecturale propuse. Proiectele sunt ndrumate continuu pe perioada realizrii studiului.
SYLLABUS A. Concept The 3rd year architectural design activity takes place within the studio (an integrated frame for representing and designing the architectural object). The syllabus of the 3rd year seeks the fulfillment of conceptual requirements, which are represented by: understanding of architecture as a complex form of ART; highlighting a weighted balance between architectural images generative methods, from pure (aesthetically connoted) ideal forms towards strictly utilitarian ones; assimilating the architectural language elements element, volume, exterior space, form, function; encouraging creativity, as a major aim. Each studio coordinator outlines his specific guidance method within a generally required teaching methodology. B. Content The architectural project connects (in a complex simulation) a working hypothesis (social demands, urban or natural environment, structures, urban and technical regulations, materials and textures, color, etc.) to each student's compositional logic. Themes of the Architectural Design course: ARCHITECTURE OF THE ENVIRONMENT, DWELLING AND CITY. Project titles: Culture, Tourism, Collective dwelling. 1-day projects Themes and titles: Tourism (tea pavilion), Culture (poster, art events space, etc.), Housing (country house at the seaside, interior design for a dwelling space, etc.). C. General objectives defining the architectural object's volumetric configuration; highlighting the relationship between volumes, rhythm, scale, and luminosity; structural system's role in defining the spatial configuration, also considering the functional calculations (dwelling, leisure activities, etc.); the indissoluble link between expression and style; progressive assimilation of the communicational "grammar" in the architectural discourse; shaping of projective thinking; acquiring rules of composition and of shape combination (juxtaposition, articulation, segmentation, deformation, etc.); being acquainted with the principles of green, sustainable architecture. D. Methodology Teaching forms: Lectures and students' presentations in the first class of each week; Getting information from the compulsory documentation; Acquisition of representational skills, through drawing exercises, graphic and color studies, model making and computer simulations; Presentation of an individual study portfolio; Individual public presentation of each student's work, which is meant to be an introduction to architectural critique; Development of students' abilities to explain theoretically their architectural propositions. Projects are guided continuously through the duration of study.

Centru de informare pentru arhitectur Tema propune un scenariu care s permit bucuretenilor s se informeze i s participe, n cunotin de cauz, la elaborarea deciziilor privind evoluia oraului. Simultan, un astfel de centru poate reprezenta o ieire n spaiul public pentru manifestrile expoziionale ale breslei arhitecilor. Prin acest proiect, studenii vor explora capacitatea formelor arhitecturale de a genera interes public, ntr-un context deja saturat de mesaje vizuale. Totodat, un element fundamental al temei este caracterul temporar al construciei. n zona central a Pieei Unirii din Bucureti, studenii vor alege amplasamentul exact al obiectului de arhitectur propus, care va avea o suprafa desfurat de 400500 mp.
Architectural information center This project suggests a scenario which shall allow the inhabitants of Bucharest to get information and to take part in the urban decision-making processes. This kind of center can also bring into the public space the exhibitions organized by the architectural professional bodies. During this project, the students will be able to explore the power of architectural forms to generate public interest, in a visually saturated urban context. Another fundamental element of the project is the temporary character of the building. In the central part of Unirii Square in Bucharest, the students will choose its precise setting; the building's total area has to be between 400 and 500 square meters.
PREZENTAREA STUDENTULUI: Prin propunerea facuta in cazul pavilionului din Piata Unirii, am incercat sa produc un impact asemanator cu acela produs de bradul de Craciun amplasat cu un an in urma in acelasi loc - dar la o scara mult mai redusa. De aceea am optat pentru un accent vertical cu rol de semnal, care impreuna cu albul membranei care acopera structura, fac pavilionul vizibil in spatiul pietei. In ceea ce priveste forma, accentul vertical, care la interior delimiteaza spatiul expozitional, creeaza un dialog cu forma sa negativa, alveolara, marcand intrarea. Pentru a pastra caracterul temporar al pavilionului am ales o structura metalica, imbracata intr-o membrana PVC translucida.
STUDENTS PRESENTATION: In order to create a similar (but much lower) impact as the one produced by the Christmas tree one year ago in the same Unirii square, my proposal for the pavilion followed some parameters. This is why I've chosen a vertical accent playing the role of a signal, which along the white of the membrane covering the structure, make the pavilion visible in the square. The formal concept was guided by the vertical accent which borders the interior exhibition place and establishes a dialog with its negative, alveolate form, marking the entrance. In order to keep the temporary character of the pavilion, I've chosen a metallic structure, covered by a translucent PVC membrane.

The study is ment to explore low tech architecture and sustainable development proposing alternative solution to build a ECO-CENTER for a young group of eco militants.The site is near Bucharest, 35 km on DN1 speedway, on a green and unbuilt site near Snagov lake.The club is the first phase of development an it consists on a number of workshop spaces, a technical room for experimental techniques and equipments, a conference room for 100 people and a small cafeteria towards the lake.The club should be organised as a one or two levels building, and must use local techniques and materials in a rather low-tech intervention.
PREZENTAREA STUDENTULUI: Eco club Snagov isi propune sa fie o constructie ecologica inca de la alegerea sitului. Aflat in vecinatatea lacului Snagov, clubul este destinat unui grup de activisti ecologisti. Obiectul propus se bucura de avantajele unui sit liber, ce nu este constrans de existenta altor cladiri. Compozitia este ampla si propune un volum dominant circular, destinat activitatilor principale si un traseu directionat, de-a lungul celor doua maluri, de care se agata atelierele de lucru. Proiectul propune asigurarea conditiilor de functionare pe cat posibil prin tehnici, metode si materiale ecologice. Materialele de baza propuse spre utilizare sunt: lemnul, sticla, piatra naturala. STUDENTS PRESENTATION: Eco Club Snagov aims to be an "ecological building" right from the choice of the site. Located nearby Snagov Lake, the club is to be used by a group of ecomilitants. The proposed subject enjoys the advantages of a free site, which is not constrained by any other surrounding buildings. Its compounding is ample and suggests a dominant circular volume dedicated to the main activities and a route alongside the two borders of the lake, which the workshops cling onto. The project proposes proper working facilities as much as possible through ecological techniques, methods and materials. The raw materials proposed are: wood, glass, and natural stone.

Amplasamentul: zona centrala a Bucurestiului scuarul dintre strazile Transilvaniei, Temisana si Luigi Cazzavilan este marginit de un teren liber, de forma patrata cu o suprafata de aprox. 1100 mp care poate deveni o continuare a spatiului public al pietei si in acelasi timp un nucleu de activitati. Scopul: descoperirea unui spatiu cultural dinamic si deschiderea unei arte restranse si specializate inspre publicul multivalent al culturii de azi; adoptarea de ctre individ a unui comportament interactiv i a unei dispoziii de reacie spontan la experienele propuse; participarea directa a publicului larg la fenomenul cultural prin dans. PREZENTAREA STUDENTULUI: Dansul modern, contemporan, adopta in majoritatea spectacolelor teme urbane: urbanismul transpunand sentimentele esentiale in aglomerari citadine. Proiectul propune o structura moderna, dinamica, ce doreste a fi o intretesere intre miscare si sunet. In acest context , parcusul/traseul are un rol important in configurarea spatiului interior, care permite circulatia libera de la o incapere la alta. Configurarea intregii cladiri rezulta si din incercarea de stabilire a unui dialog urban cu restul tesutului/orasului.
STUDENTS PRESENTATION: The modern contemporary dance adopts urban themes in most shows, transposing urbanism with it's attitudes and mentality into artistic expression. This project proposes a modern, dynamic structure to reflect the interweaving of movement and sound. In this context, the flow of space has an important role in shaping the interior volume, allowing a free passage from one room to another. The final structure is also a result of a spacial integration within the rest of the area.

Cas de creaie la Mogooaia Pe un teren aflat n curtea palatului de la Mogooaia, studenii vor propune o construcie avnd funciunea de cazare, odihn i creaie pentru artitii plastici. Studiul va ine seama, n primul rnd, de contextul natural i istoric existent
House for artists at Mogosoaia On an area inside Mogosoaia Palace the students will have to propose a building serving as a hotel for artists, a place for relaxation, repose and art creation. The study will take in consideration the historical and natural environment in the area.
PREZENTAREA STUDENTULUI: In continuarea proiectului de Muzeu, pensiunea propusa este integrata in ideea ca Mogosoaia este o succesiune de curti interioare in padure. Trecand prin muzeu, in parcursul spre gradiniile engleze ale palatului, vizitatorul trece prin curtea dintre cele doua cladiri afundandu-se din nou in padure, unde gaseste o cutie de sticla plasata pur si simplu intre copaci, ingloband o parte dintre ei, astfel el isi continua drumul prin pensiune fara a parasi vre-un moment padurea. Camerele sunt pozitionate asemena unor ramuri de copaci iesind din cutia de sticla, iar in locul balcoanelor vizitatorul primeste o extensie de sticla a camerei care il invita la o plimbare printre ramurile copacilor. In definitiv in proiect nu este vorba despre altceva decat parcurgerea spatiului minunat care este Mogosoaia. STUDENTS PRESENTATION: As part two of the Mogosoaia project the small hotel is integrated in the concept of Mogosoaia being a series of inner courts in the forest. After strolling through the museum and the courtyard between them, the visitor goes back in the forest where he finds a glass box enclosing some of the trees thus one can walk through the hotel without ever leaving the forest, maintaining his parcour towards the english palace gardens. The rooms are positioned as tree branches coming out of the glass box, and instead of balconies the visitor has a long glass extension witch give him the opportunity of walk thru the tree canopy. In conclusion, the project is all about the parcour of the wonderful space that is Mogosoaia.

Tema solicit amenajarea unui spaiu dedicat evenimentelor culturale, realizate de ctre i pentru studeni pe terasa slii de sport a Universitii Ion Mincu. Propunerea va consta dintr-un spaiu acoperit, realizat din materiale uoare, ce poate cuprinde : gradene fixe sau mobile, ecran de proiecie, perei amovibili pentru nchidere i / sau expunere. Spaiul va fi dimensionat pentru circa 250 de persoane, dintre care circa 150 pe scaune.
The project asks for the designing of a space dedicated to cultural events, made by and for the students on the roof of the sports hall of the Ion Mincu University. The proposal will consist of a covered space, built from light materials, which can include: fixed or mobile rows of steps, projection screen, movable enclosing and / or exhibition walls. The space will be calculated for around 250 persons, of which around 150 seated.

Formaia The Police va concerta pe plaja din Vama Veche. Pornind de la acest pretext, se cere imaginarea unui afi al spectacolului, prezentat ntr-o tehnic grafic la alegere. n partea dreapt a planei se vor propune soluii prin care grafica propriu-zis a afiului ar putea fi folosit n moduri diferite fa de cel tradiional, pe bannere, steaguri sau pe orice alt form posibil de expunere (chiar pe plaj) n zona unde urmeaz s se desfoare spectacolul.
The Police band will give a concert on the beach in Vama Veche. Starting from this pretext, the project consists in the designing of a poster for this show. The drawing technique is to be chosen by the students. The right half of the sheet will be reserved for the presentation of some ideas about using the graphic concept of the poster in different ways, compared to the traditional ones: on banners, flags or any other displaying form (on the beach) in the proposed concert area.

Pe un teren situat pe malul Lacului Floreasca din Bucureti se va amplasa un pavilion al ceaiului. Zona are o vegetaie relativ dens, care trebuie meninut i reprezint un element important n definirea soluiei. Suprafaa desfurat a pavilionului va fi de 250 mp, iar nlimea maxim admis de 10 metri. Este posibil creterea suprafeei construite prin terase acoperite sau descoperite. Sistemul structural va fi ales n mod liber de ctre studeni.
The students will design a tea pavilion, on the shore of the Floreasca Lake in Bucharest. The area has relatively dense vegetation. It is mandatory to maintain it, because the trees form an essential element for developing the architectural solution. The building area will be 250 sqm, and the maximum height: 10 meters. The area can be increased by covered or open terraces. The structural system will be chosen freely by the students.

PREZENTAREA STUDENILOR: Proiectul nostru isi propune sa functioneze asemeni vechiului pol urban ce antrena intreaga zona, fabrica Tricodava. Astfel fabrica a fost transformata intr-o gradina, ce reprezinta punctul de plecare pentru intregul proiect, parcul infiltrandu-se in mijlocul locuintelor si raspandindu-se apoi in directiile adiacente sitului. Gradina separa si uneste, aduna si disperseaza, apartine locuitorilor si deopotriva orasului. Pentru a oferi unitate ansamblului, proiectul se bazeaza pe ideile de mixitate si de proximitate. Astfel locuirea se combina cu zona de loisir, de comert, recreere, creand asfel oportunitati pentru comunicare, schimb, cooperare, incurajandu-se asadar formarea unei comunitati. STUDENTS PRESENTATION: Our project's purpose is to act in a similar manner to the old urban pole that used to stimulate the entire area, Tricodava Industry. Therefore, the old manufacture has been transformed in a garden which represents the start point for the entire project. As a result the park is being infused in the middle of the dwellings and afterwards defused in all directions. The garden separates and brings together, assembles, agglomerates and scatters, disperses. It belongs to the neighbors and to the city. In order to achieve unity, the project is based on the ideas of mixing and proximity. Therefore, the ensemble combines living with recreation, work, loisir, creating opportunities for communication, exchange, trade, cooperation, and thus encourages the bounding of a community.

Podurile caselor vechi reprezint o resurs valoroas pentru locuirea urban. Conversia unui astfel de spaiu este i tema acestei schie, care solicit pstrarea ca atare a arpantei i amenajarea aici a unei locuine pentru 3 persoane. Pe lng spaiile de dormit i zona de zi, se mai pot propune spaii de lucru, precum i o arie dedicat locului de joac. Se va acorda o atenie deosebit coerenei partiului, n raport cu nlimile libere de sub arpant.
Old houses' attics are valuable resources for urban dwelling. The conversion of such a space is the subject of this project, which asks for the maintaining of the attic's structural framework and the insertion of an apartment for 3 persons into that space. Besides the bedrooms and the living room, working spaces can be added, as well as a playing area. The students are required to carefully consider the coherence of the plan and its relation towards the available heights under the roof.

Tema propune imaginarea unei locuine de vacan la mare, n satul 2 Mai, obiectivul exerciiului fiind recrearea unui model identitar pentru arhitectura de acest tip din mediul rural. Terenul se afl pe falez. Casa are caracter unifamilial, cu parter sau maxim parter i etaj, iar materialele vor susine ideea de identitate a locuinei : crmid, piatr, paiant, lemn, olane, stuf etc. Partiul arhitectural este la alegerea studenilor. Piesa principal a schiei va fi o machet la scara 1:50.
This project asks for the designing of a country house in 2 Mai seaside village. Our aim is the re-creation of an identity model for rural architecture. The plot is adjacent to the cliff. This house will host a single family, on one or two floors. Building materials will strengthen the dwelling's identity: brick, stone, adobe, timber, ceramic roof tiles, reed, etc. The plan configuration is to be chosen by the students. The main part of the project will be a model of the house (scale 1:50).

Schia propune studierea i detalierea unui modul spaial funcional dat, al unei locuine colective. Spaiul este destinat dormitorului matrimonial i trebuie s uneasc (ntr-un mod flexibil i confortabil) zona pentru dormit, spaiul destinat dressing-ului i cel destinat bii. Pentru susinerea ideii de flexibilitate, se va propune i o amenajare alternativ a aceluiai modul : dormitor pentru 2 copii, birou sau spaiu destinat unor activiti muzicale. Poziia bii nu va fi modificat.
The project's proposal is the studying and detailed designing of a given spatialfunctional unit of a collective dwelling. The space shall include the master bedroom, which is to be flexibly and comfortably connected with the dressing space and the bathroom. Sustaining the idea of flexibility, the students will also design an alternative proposal for the same unit: a bedroom for 2 children, an office or a musical activities room. The bathroom's position will not be changed.
